I am sooooo envious Benn mate. Give a big shout for ManUtdPeople, while you're there.

I was away in Germany for the West Ham game and could only follow the scores on the BBC website. I should have taken a laptop, although we had a business dinner that I had to go to while the match was on. I guess it would have been a tad rude to have sat there watching the match?

No such worries for Sunday. A clear diary and sorry ronaldinosa, but if you are decorating Sunday afternoon, I am not free to help, lol!

So, we know that there will be no Rio, no Giggs, no Anderson, no Nani. So what would YOUR preferred line up for the final be? Remember that the kids started us down this road, so what about Gibbo, Foster, either of the twins?

For me, I think it's important to win silverware and it is a good day out for the fans, so I'd like to see this line up:

VDS
Gary Nev, Evans, Vida, Evra
Valencia, Gibson, Fletch, Park
Berba, Wazza

Subs: Foster, Rafael, Carrick, Scholes, Owen, Brown, Obertan

I think it's 7 subs, but I'm sure you'll put me right?

I agree that we should field a strong line up as Villa are a good team and coming runner up is not an option. I could understand if our oposition was a team from the lower leagues but Villa are capable of winning and will be intending to do so.
The fans are paying a lot of money to go to Wembley and only one result will do. We have had a few injury problems this season and SAF rotates quite a bit anyway so most of our players have had plenty of first team starts this season. With Giggs, Ferdinand, Anderson and Nani out there is oportunity for others.
I still think that Nani runs a bit hot and cold and Valencia will possibly become the first choice on right wing in the future. He certainly was not lacking on Tuesday night. Nani will have to fight for that position.
From the injured list I think Rio will be the biggest loss. Not many teams can break through when Ferdinand, Vidic and VDS are playing. Good to see Gary Neville back, he is not finished yet. While Giggs not being in the team is always a big loss SAF has plenty of good players to choose from in the middle of the park.
I am confident that we will win but expect Villa to be tough.
Hopefully Wayne will score, I dont think he knows how to stop at the minute

Jeez... I really hope United will win... this won't be easy but we have to win at least this trophy. We already lost Audi Cup and Community Shield.

I think Rio is unlikely to start, which is a massive blow. it can be softened, I guess, with Vida's return. He'll certainly help to influence the backline and will bring on either Evans or Brown, whoever he partners. I can see a couple of changes in the middle of the park, with the string of games coming along, as SAF uses the squad, so expect to see maybe Carrick or Fletch rested?

Some Carling Cup trivia:

The youngest goalscorer in the final: Norman Whiteside, 17 years 324 days, for Manchester United vs Liverpool, 1983.

1st winners of the Football League Cup: Aston Villa were the inaugural winners in 1960–61.

Record scoreline: Manchester United 4–0 Wigan Athletic (2005–06)

Three different trophies have been presented to the winners of the League Cup since its inauguration:
- The original trophy, which is currently given to the winners.

- The trophy presented from the second year of the Milk Marketing Board sponsoring the competition, 1982–83 to 1985–86.

- The trophy presented from 1986–87 until 1989–90 during Littlewoods' sponsorship of the competition.

2010 Final Teams' Results:

Manchester United: 3 Wins, 4 Runners Up. Winners in: 1992, 2006, 2009 Runners Up in:1983, 1991, 1994, 2003

Aston Villa:5 wins, 2 runners up. Winners in: 1961, 1975, 1977, 1994, 1996. Runners Up in 1963, 1971

Most defeats in a final: 4: Manchester United & Arsenal Yes, I meant to write that small, lol!
