Agree with Andy. It would be great if another United name went down in history, but with the likes of Messi on there, it may prove reasonable to settle for a runners up spot, instead.

To be fair ... i think wayne rooney is easily one of the better players on the list ... i would rather ronaldo went any day over rooney and i would rather rooney any day over messi, he wears his heart on his sleeve, gives everything ... he not only attacks, he defends, something i see ronaldo or messi do little of....fancy skills and good ball work are not the only thing in football, just becos some1 can do more tricks and mayb quicker does not mean they are a better football player...
Rooney is the absolute complete all round player, the duncan edwards mould ... he isnt given enough recognition i dont think ...

Messi a deserved winner. The 22-year-old became the first Ballon d'Or winner from Argentina, eclipsing runner-up and last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo by a record 240-point margin.
The award's 96 jurors gave Messi 473 points out of a possible 480, a near unanimous verdict, organisers France Football said.
The win caps a brilliant year for the softly-spoken left-footed forward.
He helped Barcelona to the Champions League title with nine goals - including one in the final against Manchester United - as well as bagging six in the Copa del Rey and 23 in La Liga.
The gong, formerly known as the European Footballer of the Year award, was voted on by journalists from across the world.
