Manchester United have signed Colombia striker Radamel Falcao in a £6m season-long loan deal from Monaco.

Falcao had been linked during the summer with a move away from the French Ligue 1 side, whom he joined for £50m in May 2013.

The 28-year-old scored 11 goals in 20 league appearances for Monaco, and two in three games this season.

But it isn't clear or certain if this deal will be made permanent:

Quote:Radamel Falcao's future with Manchester United is uncertain, the striker's agent Jorge Mendes has admitted.

Falcao is on a season-long loan deal at United from Monaco which includes the option for the Barclays Premier League side to buy.

However, the Colombia international has scored only three goals so far in an injury-affected season and was left out of the squad for Sunday's 1-0 home loss to Southampton.

Reports have suggested Falcao, who has been linked with Serie A side Juventus, was shocked by Louis van Gaal's decision to leave him out against the Saints, a call the manager confirmed was tactical.

Van Gaal did also stress after Sunday's game that the 28-year-old had started the previous five fixtures and that the next match would be "another moment" in terms of selection.

However, Mendes has raised doubts whether Falcao's loan will be turned into a £43.5m permanent transfer to United.

"He is a fantastic player, and I think it's very difficult for Manchester United fans," he said.

"What we do know is that he will play in one of the very best clubs in the world next season, whether that is Manchester United or not."
Jorge Mendes
"They have an absolutely brilliant player, one of the very best in the world, who would without any doubt play 90 minutes of the match, every time, with any other club.

"The truth is, right now we don't know what will happen.

Manchester United have decided not to keep Radamel Falcao following the end of his season-long loan from Monaco.

The Colombian, who missed Sunday's 0-0 draw with Hull because of injury, scored just four goals in 29 matches.

United did not take up a reported £43.2m option to buy the 29-year-old, who failed to net in his last 13 games.

"Falcao is a top professional and a good human being. I would like to wish him well for the future," Van Gaal told the club's website.

The former Porto and Atletico Madrid striker's last goal came against Leicester on 31 January.

The South American, who missed the 2014 World Cup after suffering a serious knee injury in January last year, made a point of waving to the United fans when he was substituted in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on 17 May, in what proved to be his last appearance.

It is the first decision in what is expected to be a busy summer for Van Gaal, who will look to reshape a squad he has consistently said is not balanced

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has given a strong indication that Radamel Falcao could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has vowed to help the Colombian "reach his level again" after he scored just four goals in his season-long loan at Manchester United.

Falcao has been open about his desire to remain in the Premier League and Sky sources understand that talks are already underway with the Premier League champions about the possibility on another loan from Monaco.

Quote:Chelsea have agreed a season-long loan deal with Monaco for Radamel Falcao, according to Sky sources.

Falcao spent last season on loan at Manchester United but boss Louis van Gaal opted against making the move permanent after he scored just four goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

The 29-year-old Colombian striker was keen to remain in the Premier League and Sky Sports reported last week that Chelsea were in talks to sign him following the release of Didier Drogba.
