Yeah its something like that, you pay an annual subscription fee and in return you get a highly subsidised rate for your season tickets.
I'm not too sure about how exactly it works but they're not run to be a profit making venture, the club is run to satisfy its members at a lowest possible cost to them while managing to meet expenses.
They also donate $2 million a year I think to UNICEF and don't have shirt sponsors as the members feel corporate logos especially on shirts detracts from the beauty of the game.
