Man Utd tell Ferguson to sell 10-15 players from squad
#1
Manchester United face a major firesale at the end of the season.

The Daily Star says
United will be forced into a drastic summer clearout to help keep their massive £716m debts in check.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be told to axe 10 to 15 players as Manchester United look to trim their budget in light of their current financial problems. Those players will be the club’s young professionals in addition to more established stars who Ferguson deems surplus to requirements.

United have close to 50 professionals on their books and the club’s money men have identified the size of the club’s first-team squad as the way to cut costs.

The news is likely to anger already frustrated United supporters who have become disillusioned by the Glazer family’s cash-grabbing reign at Old Trafford.

Manchester United plan summer clearout including Michael Owen and Ben Foster - report

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson claiming Michael Owen will not be sold, The Daily Star reports that the Manchester United boss is planning a massive clearout sale from their squad in the summer in order to keep the club's £716 million debt under control.

Owen is included in a host of players on the 'sale' list, as well as Ben Foster, a keeper who has seemingly slipped down the pecking order behind Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak.

As many as 10 to 15 players could be set for the exit door, with Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Gabriel Obertan all believed to be part of that group.

A clutch of promising youngsters could also leave as the club's mounting debt begins to affect on-field matters at last. Tom Cleverley, Craig Cathcart (both on loan Watford), Danny Welbeck (on loan Preston North End) and Zoran Tosic (on loan at FC Cologne) could all move out of Old Trafford permanently.

Anderson was set to join that list but his recent injury has apparently put plans to cash in on the Brazilian on hold.

What a complete load of b******s! If there is any truth in this, then the management running United (and I don't mean SAf and his staff) just have no clue about professional football at the top level. To compete at the same level that United have done and so successfully over the past 20-odd years, they have done so with strength in depth. You need experienced players to work with the kids and get them to gel. If SAF is forced to sell up to 15 players, then where will that leave us? Fighting for 4th place and looking at the Europa Cup!

NO WAY CAN THIS HAPPEN!!
