Nemanja Vidic admits he was left mystified by months of speculation over his United future.
The Serbian defender has been repeatedly offered a big-money move abroad, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan strongly credited with an interest.
David Gill recently revealed that the coveted defender has agreed a new contract extension, however, and Vidic insists he has always been absolutely content to be at Old Trafford.
"I don't know why people think it was a difficult decision," Vidic told PA after United's victory over the Airtricity League XI in Dublin. "I always said I am happy here.
"I never spoke about my future. I know there was all this speculation but I never said I wanted to go. There was nothing new. I am very happy to be here."
