someone on his own who has the clubs best interest at heart and not his pocket.

I'm sick of all this stuff by the way just wanted to go on a rant I don't really bother talking bout it I prefare talking bout the footy

It sounds too good to be true for some reason. Plus all we hear from them is "we had a secret meeting", "protest", "don't go to games". That's not enough and its not something that will lead to constructive talks. I want the Americans out too but I've promised myself not to get all excited with everything we read about the knights for now

Steady thinking Ramble. I agree with your outlook. There is no way I would cut off my nose to spite my face by not going to any United games, so that option is a non starter. At the same time, although I don't spend a fortune with United (online or otherwise) again, if there is something I want, I wouldn't not get it for the sake of these Red Knights.

United is MY club. It's yours, too, of course, but let me make my own decisions and do not tell me I must join there group and I must sign up to petitions, etc. URA is correct in his stance (in my view), as he seems to understand that we all have our own opinions, which must be respected. He also accepts that there will be campaigns and other strategies, but so long as these are not forced upon us, good luck with all those. He came to us and ASKED if we'd sign his petition, with no pressure.

Constructive is the key word for me, too.

Sky Sports News understands two billionaires from South Asia were prepared to make a ₤1billion offer for Manchester United, but were told the Glazer family was unwilling to sell.

It is understood the deal was brokered by super-agent Pini Zahavi in October last year.

Zahavi represents Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand and has close links with the club.

But the billionaires, who have not been named but are 'huge Manchester United supporters', were told the Glazers 'were not willing to hear offers'.

It is believed the potential investors provided proof of funds in a Swiss bank account.

The investors have no involvement with the 'Red Knights' consortium who revealed their own takeover plans last week.

Zahavi was involved in Roman Abramovich's surprise takeover at Chelsea in 2003.

We shall see mate we shall see with all these rumours.

There seems to be growing pressure on the Glazers, but when they can legally take £400million out of the club before 2017, it will take a massive incentive from a prospective buyer to oust them. And then there is the debt to pay off. Too much money, I think!

United chief Gill insists Glazers are a positive influence

Chief executive David Gill has hailed the business influence of the much-criticised Glazer family on Manchester United, following the announcement of a new lucrative sponsorship deal for the club.

United supporters have made their feelings known in recent weeks with the highly-visible green and gold campaign, but sources close to the Glazers insist the American family will not sell the club to the Red Knights consortium despite debts of over £700 million.

The Red Knights have secured the services of leading global investment bank Nomura to help line-up a potential takeover and received global media exposure when former United star David Beckham donned a green and gold scarf after Wednesday night's

UEFA Champions League demolition of AC Milan.

Despite the protests, Gill reinforced the Glazer's position as he announced a new five-year deal with Telekom Malaysia to become the 'Intergrated Telecommunications Partner' of the Old Trafford outfit.

"There are protests," said Gill. "Everyone has the right to protest and there was certainly a lot of green and gold there on Wednesday night, you cannot deny that.

"But this partnership demonstrates the strength of the club. It is a long-term partnership for five years.

"We will be around for the length of this five-year deal and many more in addition to that.

"We have a sound business model and Telekom Malaysia is partnering one of the best teams in world football. That will always be the case."

Agreement

The sponsorship agreement is part of a new commercial strategy implemented by the Glazer family.

Instead of taking a global approach, United adopt a territorial stance, doing exclusive deals in specific areas to maximise income and make the most of an estimated 333 million supporters worldwide.

It was one of the facts the Glazers took into account when they launched their own takeover, which at the time even Gill felt involved too much debt. Now though he feels the evidence points to a streamlined business model that, in the day-to-day running of the club, delivers huge profits.

"The owners thought we were doing very well on the commercial front but that there were other opportunities out there," he said.

"This is the insight they have brought in.

"It doesn't get much media coverage but the very fact they have come in and are able to do these deals benefits us. We can reinvest that money back in the club."

The Red Knights group has seen its bid to gain control of Manchester United receive a shot in the arm with confirmation a leading global investment bank has agreed to advise on a possible acquisition.

Wednesday's night demolition job on AC Milanwas played out against a backdrop of supporter unrest as repeated chants against the Glazer family were aired inside Old Trafford.

The Glazers, through chief executive David Gill, have said it is business as usual and that they have no intention of selling despite United being over £700million in debt.

Investment back Nomura will work closely with the Red Knights, the Manchester UnitedSupporters' Trust and other potential investors to "coordinate and formulate the proposal to be put to the Glazer family".

The Nomura team will be led by Guy Dawson and Andrew McNaught, both of whom advised the Board of Manchester United plc when the club was sold to the Glazer family in 2005.

Nomura is beginning its role by contacting the many expressions of financial support the Red Knights have received to date.

A spokesman for the Red Knights has told Sky Sports News there are now "up to 70 expressions of interest" from wealthy investors.

Beckham boost

The Red Knights group could not have been handed a more favourable piece of publicity on the night, as returning old boy David Beckham donned a green and gold scarf to a rapturous reception.

Protesters against the Glazers have adopted the green and gold colours and they have been highly visible at United matches in recent weeks.

"I'm a Man United fan. I saw the scarf there. I put it round my neck, it's the old colours of Man United, that's all I knew," Beckham said.

"To be honest it's (the protest) not my business. I'm a Manchester United fan. I support the club. I always have done and I always will do.

"It's nothing to do with me the way everything is run, that's to do with other people but I'm a Man United fan and I support the team. I will always support them."
