After an impressive start to the current campaign, Darren Fletcher is said to be in line for a £1million a year pay rise.

The Scotland midfielder has been our best midfielder so far this season, out-shining the likes of Scholes, Carrick, Anderson and Giggs. His tireless performances have earned him praise from team mates and fans alike.

I used to rate him as simply a squad player like John O’Shea, but the difference between the two is that Fletcher wasn’t happy being a squad player and has worked hard to force his way into the first team and stay there. He’s now arguably the first name on the team sheet for the big games because it’s him that can be relied upon to perform out of our current crop of midfielders.

The News of the World are reporting that his 50 grand a week salary will be increased to 70 grand and you have to admit he’s earned it.

His current contract runs until 2012 and I wouldn’t mind at all if it was extended beyond that.
Agreed mate, Darren is a top, reliable player and he has earned it!
We will never know just how much we missed him in Rome and his ban was a disgrace.Works so hard for the team and comes across great when interviewed.I was one of those reds who wanted rid of him a few years ago.He was a liability and giving the ball away constantly was one of my biggest issues with him.
He has grown into an intelligent ball winner and brilliant reader of the game who never stops running and does the ugly stuff that a Keano in his heyday used to do for us.
I hope he will be a Man Utd player for many years to come and if it was up to me i would put him on 100k plus a week!
He has earned it.
he deserves a rise as he is a really good player and showed great talent against arasenal, its a pity he couldnt play in the cl final we really needed him
well deserved. our best player in last few big games we played.
I think I've said on here before that I have been impressed by his attitude. Around the time we were knocked out of the ECL by Porto, he had just broke into the 1st team. He looked a little out of his depth and struggled for pace. He had chances, I think, to go to Everton or Spurs (small clubs, you know), but stayed, rolled his sleeves up and worked hard for his place.
He must now be one of the 1st names on SAF's team sheet. Top class.
i always remember the goal he scored against chelsea at ot in 2005 and won us the game 1-0, was a quality goal and he showed signs of great promise from then on
he is great player this season and as Paddy Crenard said... he is first name on the team sheet theses days
amazing player
Well deserved. If it encourages him to stay longer, he WILL improve and become the World-Class CM we need.
