I've been living in Cornwall for almost 3 years. I really miss the match day buzz. Are you from the Truro area? I've met a lot of "supporters" but most of them havn't even been to Manchester, let alone Old Trafford. If you are send me a mail and we'll get intouch.

I was sat here thinking, after Andy added Gordon Hill to the United player name game (https://manutdpeople.com/Thread-United-Player-Game) about early memories of Manchester United.
Now, I know we have a good range of ages on this forum, but it might be interesting to read about each others memories of United. These might be the first ever time you saw them live, or saw them on TV, or went to the Theatre of Dreams, or met a player, manager, etc.

Call me old fashioned, but I like a bit of the old history and as you are all real people, this will actually mean something to us all. It doesn't matter how many times you post, because like me, you are bound to have more than 1 tale to tell!

Me first:

A great one for me was my first ever live match involving United. it was actually away from OT, at Layer Road, Colchester, in 1983! My Dad was a lifelong Col U fan (they call themselves U, too) and United were in town for a 3rd round League Cup match. His Dad managed to get us tickets for the game, which was, of course, a sell out.
There were over 13000 fans inside the tiny ground and we actually ended up watching the match at the open end, up the floodlights! No stewards to stop that in those days and at half time, we were passed up cups of tea!
Magic!
United won 2-0, so I went home a very happy young man. My Dad was OK about it, 'cos he had a real soft spot for United, having been stationed up there for his National Service!

  Anfield Warning!!
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 20-10-2009, 12:00 PM - Forum: Man Utd News - Replies (19)

United fans travelling to Anfield this weekend are warned that they will be searched prior to entry into the ground. The Security has been stepped up and the staff will be employed to look for....

yes, you've guessed it....

BEACH BALLS!!! How funny is that??

Report: Manchester United Fans To Be Searched For Beach Balls At Liverpool

Manchester United fans travelling to Anfield to watch their team play Liverpool at the weekend will be searched as normal as stewards look for beach balls.

Red Liverpool beach balls have sold out from the Anfield club shop, with staff suspecting United fans are snapping them up as they plan a 'tribute' to the goal Darren Bent scored for Sunderland against the Reds at the weekend.

Bent's effort deflected off a red beach ball and past Pepe Reina into the net for the game's only goal at the Stadium of Light.

The beach ball had been thrown onto the pitch by a Liverpool fan. Although the goal should not have stood, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been philosophical about what happened claiming that his club do not want to change things.

"It will be the normal search policy," a Liverpool spokesperson told The Sporting Life.

Any beach balls found on supporters will be confiscated.
