  Get Your Singing Heads On!!
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 19-09-2013, 06:45 AM - Forum: Man Utd News - Replies (2)

Quote:Manchester United will trial a singing section at Old Trafford during next month's Champions League visit of Real Sociedad.

United have already seen one attempt at the venture scrapped after police objected to the relocation of visiting supporters opposite the managers' dug-outs.

But club officials have given their backing to a fresh, fan-led intiative, having taken their own steps to increase noise levels earlier this year when they employed an acoustic engineer.

Up to 1,400 of the most vocal United fans will now be housed in the South East quadrant usually reserved for away fans when Sociedad come to town on 23 October.

Season-ticket holders have been invited to register their interest, with any remaining places offered to members.

The move has already been backed by midfielder Michael Carrick, who wrote on Twitter: "Great idea to have a singing section. If I was going as a fan that's where I'd be..."

I think it a great idea. I would also support a move of the away fans from anywhere near being behind a goal. I think it does give some strength to the away teams with chanting behind them (for 1 half, anyway).

Look at where some fans sit at places like Newcastle, Chelski, etc.

Debt Falls and Record Revenues Revealed
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 18-09-2013, 11:50 AM - Forum: Man Utd News - No Replies

Quote:Manchester United have announced record annual revenue, rising by 13.4% to £363.2million for the year to June 30, 2013.

With new deals being announced on almost a weekly basis, it is no surprise that commercial revenues have risen a huge 29.7% to £152.5m for the year ended June 30, 2013.

It is the most significant rise in the 13.4% overall increase in turnover to a club record of £363.2m. The club's debt has fallen by 10.9% to £389.2million.

The adjusted profit for the period is £17.2m.

Wages have risen 11.6% to £180.5m, partly as a result of the club taking on more staff to work on its new digital operation, but also an increase in player salaries.

United have reported a rise in sponsorship revenue alone of 44.1% to £90.9m.

However, broadcast revenue dipped 2.3% to £101.6m as United gained only a 25% share of Champions League revenue paid to England's four competing clubs last season, due to a second-place finish behind Manchester City in the previous campaign.

An increase in matchday revenues of 10.5% to £109.1m was mainly due to Old Trafford being a host Olympic venue, while the club confirmed "exceptional items" costs of £6.2m were partly due to costs incurred with the flotation in New York, but also contracts of coaching staff - Mike Phelan, Rene Meulensteen and Eric Steele - being paid up following the summer departure of manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

It was also stated in the results that net finance increased £21.3m to £70.8m, primarily due to a £22m premium paid to buy back some of its bonds, which will save interest payments in future years.

Question When Will the Press Get Off Rooney's Back?
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 18-09-2013, 06:40 AM - Forum: The Lounge - Replies (11)

Last night, after the Bayer Leverkeusen (?) match, the ITV reporter asked Wazza AGAIN about how happy he is at United and if he asked for a move. OK, so a great opportunity for Wayne to put all the speculation to bed, but for me, this is not a story any more.

The transfer window has closed until January and Rooney is a United player. He cannot move to another club until the next window opens, which is January. I can't see that happening, UNLESS United are really struggling and Wazza is not enjoying his football. And can you really see that happening? Not me.

Also, I think United fans are now happy that he is wearing our shirt and of course, giving 100% for the cause. Rooney loves playing football and will always give 100% for the shirt he is wearing. He is an honest player on the pitch.

We also always get behind our players. Think of when Ronaldo signalled his intent to move to Real. We still chanted his name - and still do now!

There is not a story here anymore and I wish the press would just leave this alone and stop stirring the shite.

Do you guys have any thoughts?

I forgot to add that look at him when he came off. He was not happy to be substituted, which is absolutely the right attitude. Once he made the bench, he was giving high 5s and handshakes all round.

The reception from the Old Trafford faithful said it all. he got a standing ovation for a fabulous performance.

At the end of the match, when he was walking off with one of the coachig staff, he was all smiles and joking about.

Now, does that look like someone who is unhappy with his lot? I don't think so.

Ronaldo Signs New FIVE Year Deal
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 16-09-2013, 06:34 AM - Forum: La Liga Chat - Replies (1)

So, any lingering thoughts the United board may have had about brining Cristiano back to Manchester look to have been dashed, with the news that the 28-year old has signed another 5 year deal at Real Madrid:

Quote:Cristiano Ronaldo says he wants to stay at Real Madrid for the rest of his career after signing a new contract with the Spanish giants until 2018.

The Portugal forward, 28, was linked with a return to former club Manchester United over the summer.

"Manchester United is the past. Real Madrid is now my home," he said. "I hope that I'm here until I retire. This is a great club."

Spanish reports suggest he will earn an annual salary of 17m euros (£14.25m).

His previous contract at the Bernabeu was due to expire in 2015.

Ronaldo joined Real from Premier League champions United in 2009 for a then-world record transfer fee of £80m.

He has scored 203 goals in 203 games for Los Blancos, helping them win La Liga in 2011-12 and two domestic cups.

The Madeira-born star was also voted as the world's second best player, behind Barcelona's Lionel Messi, in 2011 and 2012.

But questions were raised about the ex-Sporting Lisbon youngster's future as Real planned their 100m euros (£85.3m) summer move for Tottenham forward Gareth Bale.

As well as a return to Old Trafford, he was also linked with a switch to big-spending French club Monaco.

"I respect all the clubs who ask about me," he said. "But they always know that my decision, that my only goal, is to be here and to play at this club until, maybe, the end of my career.

"I'll be here five more years. I just want to win trophies for this club."

Real president Florentino Perez, who sat alongside Ronaldo in a media conference on Sunday, labelled the new deal as "a great day" for the nine-time European champions.

"We have made the dream of all Madridistas," said Perez. "Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid will remain forever."

Ronaldo was replaced as the planet's most expensive player when Welshman Bale, 24, completed his switch earlier this month.

The pair both started as Real drew 2-2 at Villarreal in Bale's first appearance for last season's league runners-up.

Bale levelled after Villarreal's opener and Ronaldo put the visitors ahead before home forward Giovani Dos Santos equalised.

Cristiano Ronaldo's career
•Sporting Lisbon: 2002-03
•Manchester United: 2003-2009: Premier League winner 2007, 2008, 2009; FA Cup winner 2004; League Cup winner 2006, 2009; Champions League winner 2008
•Real Madrid: 2009-present: La Liga winner 2012; Copa del Rey winner 2011; Supercopa de Espana winner 2012
