I never wanted him out in the first place

He has put in some very good performances in the last 3 or 4 games. OK, so an easy run out today v a lacklustre Portsmouth side, but he has turned up and delivered.

I think today, he drifted more so was not really stuck out on the left. A little bit like Ronny used to do from the right. Difficult to pick up and defend against. Got involved. I think he is maybe better on the right, but as Valencia cannot play on the left (really one footed), then Nani will need to be flexible!

So, as it stands, only ONE person wants Nani out. A further 8 think he is a United player and another 8 want to wait to see. Well, Nani has come out and stated that he never wanted to leave, so that will be well received and lift the spirits, eh?

Nani says he never wanted to leave Manchester United during the difficult times he has experienced at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese winger had been tipped to move on from the Premier League champions during the January transfer window after a disappointing first half of the season.

He suffered with injury and poor form, and there were suggestions that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had finally lost patience with the 23-year-old.

However, Nani has impressed in starting United's last four matches and has displayed the ability that had seen him billed as Cristiano Ronaldo's long-term successor on the wing.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster acknowledged he had suffered some low moments, but is adamant he never wanted to quit United.

"I never wanted to go," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"When you are feeling low and things aren't going well, you do feel alone and there have been times like that. But I never thought about quitting and going back to Portugal.

"I was in a bad position sometimes and it wasn't easy to get back up again. Of course, your confidence does suffer on occasions and you get down.

"But I have shown I don't get depressed too easily. I am a strong personality. If you are not a strong character then it will drag you down.

"I am not like that. I am sure I have the quality to be one of the best in the world. I can achieve that."

In addition to the votes on here, add 1 more. Gary Neville wants him to stay, too:

Manchester United veteran Gary Neville believes team-mate Nani is beginning to demonstrate that he can follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nani has been a frustrating figure for those at Old Trafford in the two-and-a-half years since his £17million move from Sporting Lisbon.

But the winger is starting to show signs that he has finally settled at United after impressive displays against Hull City, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Ahead of Wednesday's trip to Aston Villa,Neville thinks Nani's real ability is becoming evident and that the Portuguese simply required time to build confidence, as was the case with former United star Ronaldo.

Defender Neville said in The Sun: "Nani's performances against Hull City, Manchester City and Arsenal have been absolutely fantastic.

"He has incredible ability, and when he performs like he did against Arsenal he is unstoppable. Players like Nani, who have such high skill levels, rely on confidence.

"We hope the level of performance, determination and skill he has shown in the last few games can be maintained until the end of the season because he's a matchwinner for us. I think Nani can be anything he wants to be.

"People expect so much from young players, but it sometimes takes time. It took time for Cristiano Ronaldo to settle in at United as well."

I think he knows his stuff, having played behind (or alongside) Beckham, Cantona and Ronaldo at times.

Yes, he would have done. I don't think he played with Coppell, though. It seems like he's been there forever, lol. Sorry Gary!
