NUFC Launch New Shirt With Sponsor’s Old Logo - Noucamp99 - 20-05-2015 WHOOPS!!! Newcastle United launched its new home shirt on Tuesday morning - and it was out of date even before it was revealed. The lender relaunched itself on Monday - but it came too late for the new Newcastle kit, which fans have accused of being "out of date" The Puma made Magpies kit, which is available for pre-order ahead of going on sale on Thursday, is set to be worn by the team in their Survival Sunday showdown with West Ham. But only hours before its unveiling sponsor Wonga relaunched itself with a new logo, leaving no time for the club to make changes, and so the shirts will have to carry the old branding. A spokesman for Wonga said the that due to the lead time required to make the thousands of replica kits the club hopes fans will buy the company and the club had been unable to put the new logo on the shirts. “It was due to the production schedule,” she said. Fans took to social media to ridicule the seemingly embarrassing blunder. “Only NUFC could launch a new shirt with an outdated sponsor logo on it,” said True Faith podcaster Taylor Payne. The new kit, which goes on sale from 9am on Thursday, sees “a hint of blue, matching the scroll under the famous Newcastle United crest” added to the famous black and white stripes - though supporters have also been quick to point out that it is also the colour of the loan company’s logo. The sleeves are predominantly white and feature a new “formstripe” design, which removes a traditional shoulder seam “to improve the fit and allow unrestricted movement,” the club said. |
