With Rooney nursing an "ankle injury" and Shaw already a long term absentee, the squad that travelled to Germany looks really light, for such an important game:
David De Gea, Sergio Romero; Paddy McNair, Chris Smalling, Guillermo Varela, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian; Bastian Schweinsteiger, Michael Carrick, Sean Goss, Nick Powell, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata; Memphis Depay, Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial.
So, someone should ask LVG that with hindsight, should he have let RVP and Chicharito go? Strength in Depth?
