RE: fc united of manchester - chazza - 31-08-2009

I think they are still about, the guys still support United and go to games but they jusy don't agree with the way the Glazer's run the club with all the debts.

what a bunch of twats id say they were fucking sickend to see we won the champo haha were real fucking fans lads

RE: fc united of manchester - Noucamp99 - 02-09-2009

I don't see them as twats, mate. I, too, am still opposed to the Glazers, but decided not to cut off my nose to spite my face. Having said that, I did boycott OT for a season in a token protest and did not spend any money in the shop in fear of it only going to finance the debt, which most of the hard-earned pennies we all spend on the club we love will do from now on.
It is a crying shame that a club as big as United should now be run like this, in secret, with little transparency required, unlike when quoted on the stock market. I was so proud to be a shareholder - albeit a minor one - that I even refused to send back my certificate and declared it lost. OK, so it's worthless in the real world, but to me, it's priceless.
I have, of course, seen sense for my personal needs, if you like, and the protest lasted 1 season only. I now get to as many games as I can. I am still a member of MUST and would love to see the club owned by real fans.
I can understand the stand these guys make. Having said all of that, we're free to make our own choices and should be able to without fear of reprisals or personal attacks.
'Nuff said.

thanks for the info guys, just wanted to know as i havent heard anything about them for a few years

RE: fc united of manchester - Noucamp99 - 03-09-2009

They even have a shiny website with up to date information. They're playing in the Unibond (Northern) Premier League, which is the Conference feeder. Not far for them to go until they play United each week!! Good luck to them.

Website can be found here: http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/index.php

tanks noucamp good info there

RE: fc united of manchester - Noucamp99 - 04-09-2009

No problems. Not a follower, as such, of them, but do look out for their results. A bit like when Wimblebum move to be MK Dons (too yank-ified name, like a franchise, that) and AFC Wimblebum sprouted up, created by local fans. They've made it to the Conference this year. PLayed against my local team Chelmsford City and drew in crowds of 3000 plus, which isn't bad for non-league games. I think they were well supported, even as they went through the grades.
Not sure about FC United crowds - they have played in front of 25000 in Korea!! I wonder if the Koreans knew they weren't Manchester United? They do get into the couple of thousands, though, looking on their website.

I second everything you say.
I too very much admire the stand the guys have chosen to take. However I couldn't totally support them as I would miss out on 'The roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd' too much. We sing together we cheer together and we cry together, these are precious times and are not be missed at any cost. Our club is my addiction and a habit I can't break but, with almost 1750 members signed up now, good luck to FCUM.

RE: fc united of manchester - Noucamp99 - 15-10-2009

These guys have worked very hard to build a new team and family to follow. I saw that last weekend they played in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup and won 1-0, after a 3-3 draw. This sets up a plum tie away to Northwich Victoria, another famous non-league cup team. Whoever wins that is now up against the big boys. Of Leagues 1 and 2! Not too long to wait for United. I bet that'd be a dream tie for FCUM? Away to United in the 3rd round proper?
