New Signings
#1
Do Manchester United need a few more good signings before the transfer window closes ? Though Alex Ferguson has said that he is happy with his current squad, i feel a couple of good signings wont hurt. What do you think?

Sir Alex would be crazy not to sign new players in the upcoming transfer window! Schweinsteiger, Mertesacker and Bale would all be good buys. Schweinsteiger would fill in midfield with Valencia, Nani and Bale which allows us to play Berbatov, and Rooney as starters. Mertesacker, Vidic, Rafael and Evra would then be our defensive starters with Chicharito, Ferdinand, Fletcher, Macheda, Cleverley and Brown on the bench. We should get rid of Anderson and Carrick (and Hargreaves although he is my favourite player, I can't see him returning to his past amazingness); and allow Giggs, Scholes and Neville to retire.

Rooney has yet to prove himself this season. Why should he come straight back into the team at the expense of Hernández.
The Mexican has done us proud since he was brought into the team and has deservedly earned his place.
By the time Rooney returns, Berbatov and the 'Little Pea' should have managed to work out a far better understanding, on the pitch, when playing together.

Wayne is one of the best when he is firing on all cylinders but that sort of form has deserted him so far this season.

yeah new midfielders...Priority!! there is no creativity in our midfield! defour, alexis sanchez, schweinsteiger or someone else who will bring something new to our midfield! personally i think we should sell berbatov! hasnt really done much, yeah fine few goals here and there but still, too little too late! carrick and anderson are others to go! could generate good money from them for more world class and influencial players!

not sure on rooney, still yet to proof himself but the question is...will he? sent to america for rehab etc! he better preform! or potentially sell him to get masses of money for more world class players!

Rooney is world-class, none of us can argue this. He has had a tough time up until now and he will find his feet in upcoming weeks. W need to give him the opportunity to do so! I do agree that Chicharito has been playing incredibly well and right now deserves his starting place, but my point is that the only way Rooney will find form is by allowing him to play. Berbatov is definitely a possibility for sale which gives us Chicharito and Rooney up front (WOW!!!!). Defour is also a good buy, but Schweinsteiger should be our priority right now!

Si9 :
I totally agree with you, especially with regard to Berbatov. He should be sold on.
No doubting that he too is a top class player, but unfortunately one with a low work rate who's skills are spasmodic.
On a good day .... he's great, and the rest of the time, well .... totally inconsistent.

I believe that Rooney could be back for our match against Wigan on Saturday.
If so, it should make for an interesting afternoon of football :~

What sort of reception will the supporters give him ?
Can he put his period of poor form behind him ?
Will his ankle stand up to 90+ minutes of First Team PL football
?

A great day ahead.
Let's hope that SAF does pick him.

For me there are a few who could go . Carrick ,Oshea, evans, gibson, anderson then we really would need new midfielders. I take evryones point on berba but i still think he is world class and we are very short of that ingrediant. One player that totally gets on my tits is Nani he has the ability skill and pace but what a mardarse. he would even go down if he fought audley harrison.

Hey Ratty :

Your possibly right, they all have been found wanting this season and probably for the better part of last season as well.
However, Anderson I feel has so much more within him than the others you have mentioned.
Given the time, United have only to find the right formula required to reveal his latent untapped resources, but can they afford him anymore time ?
I don't have the answers but, obviously he is not producing the talents that made him worth the £8million (+ extra's) that they paid for him.
You don't suddenly cease being a good player. So it's just a question of having to persist in trying to find out what it is that makes him tick, then do whatever is necessary in order to get the best out of him on the pitch.

Additionally, with Giggs, Neville, Scholes and VDS probably going, end of season, United couldn't afford having to replace 9 players.

Nani, well he is just another selfish egotist who believes in his own publicity.
Undoubtedly a player of enormous potential, he has unfortunately elevated himself, (in his own mind) as one of the worlds greats, without first completing his apprenticeship.
He has to learn how to become more of a team player, instead of going for glory at every opportunity.

As for his diving …. well that's him run out of ideas.
He thinks that he is 'conning the foul' without necessarily having the skills to convincingly pull it off.
By continuing this practice he is building himself a bad reputation.
His diving has now become a habit that will result in 'Red Cards', something the rest of the team cannot afford to happen.
I'm surprised SAF hasn't come down on him like a 'ton of bricks' before now.
If he has, then why does Nani continue to do it ?

With anderson I agree, i was a bit reluctant to name him in that list because when I 1st saw him play I thought yes this is what we need , but for some reason he hasn't fullfilled his potential probably due to lack of appearances. I just get the feeling is heart isn't in the cause anymore but i would love him to prove me wrong and become a great consistant player. The way the prem is structured we need today players as well as future players . Also the jury is out on bebe I know he is raw and possibly can be turned into a great asset but for 7 mill he shouldn't be quite as raw as he appears ? I can honestly say my son delivers better crosses and passes week in week out playing for Tintwistle villa . I just dont get it.
