Douglas Costa To Replace Cristiano Ronaldo
#1
Brazil prospect Douglas Costa’s agent has claimed the Gremio youngster is being eyed as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

Attacking midfielder Douglas, 18, has earned rave reviews in his homeland and has been linked with the Old Trafford club for the last two years.

Douglas has four years remaining on his contract with Gremio but the Brazilian side are likely to hold out for around £20 million.

The diminutive Brazil U20 international has been described as ’the new Ronaldinho’ and is a noted free-kick specialist

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan have also been tracking him over the last 18 months.

But his agent, Cesar Bottega, believes the player could fill the void left by Madrid-bound Ronaldo at United and claims he is on Sir Alex Ferguson’s shortlist of targets.

Bottega said: "They have identified four or five possible replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo in the world, and Douglas is one of them.

"We have been contacted by several clubs some time ago, including Manchester [United], but by South American ones as well."

Hope we get him, sounds a great talent!

From what I've seen of him on youtube, I deduce that he is a genius. But his finishing isn't top drawer. I think he'd be a 7/10 signing if we buy him. Much like Carrick.

hes's ment to still be young though so he sounds like a good buy for the future

It is one player mate.

I BELIEVE HE IS A DECENT PLAYER BUT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO BE WORLD CLASS AND CANNOT BE CLASSIFIED AS A REPLACEMENT TO RONALDO....I THINK WE WILL CHANGE OUR SYSTEM NEXT SEASON
#7
there's no way we should spend 20 million on this kid

Costa is one for the next 2 or 3 years. No will we pay 20M for him. Will probably call their bluff and buy him for 8-12M in Jan

Yeah, Fergie is trying to bring them down on the price. There are plenty of other places to look and we have a decent squad, I don't think we should be rushing to splash money on more players.

I dont think people can say how good this guy is, since hes barely played in his own first team and people hardly watch a lot of south american football. I dont think the signing would be worth it.
