Both sides are keen for the deal to be completed as soon as possible, so that Carrick can begin preparing to take training on Wednesday ahead of facing Manchester City

Sir Bobby Charlton, the Manchester United legend who was a key figure in England's 1966 World Cup victory, has died at the age of 86.

An absolute legend and a gentleman in the game for decades.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this sad time.

The new home kit will make its debut during the match between United and Leeds United FC in Norway on July 12th.

The 2023-2024 jersey combines a classic red main color with black for logos and the Three Stripes plus white detailing. It is the first time since the 2019-2020 season that Adidas use black as the secondary color. Officially, the red color is called "Team Collage Red"

In terms of design, the 2023-24 Manchester United home kit is inspired by the industrial heritage of Manchester. The kit features a repeating pattern that combines a Lancashire Rose in a geometric pattern that is inspired by Trafford Road Bridge, which was built during the time of the industrial revolution.

It is set to be the first time the game has started at 15:00 since Manchester City beat Stoke in 2011.
It will be the first FA Cup final between the sides and last season, Liverpool and Chelsea both received allocations in excess of 30,000 for the game.

I’ve been a MU fan for the last 50+ years and write this as a lifelong MU fan.

Thank you for returning to Utd even though I wasn't totally thrilled when I heard you were coming back.

Thank you for helping the club achieve all that it achieved before you left for Madrid but the club hasn’t achieved anything since you came back as we all know.

Why say you’re being forced out of the club now just as there is no point saying it was an open secret that you wanted to leave before the start of the season?

Why say you’re being forced out of the club unless you still want to stay? Either way your contract ends in 6 months so what is to be achieved by saying you’re being forced out?

Can we agree that it’s in your interest to leave in January? I can’t speak for the club but I suspect the club will also agree that it’s in the club’s (and team’s) interest that you leave.

So, if it’s in everyone’s interest that you leave in January why not just ask the Club if you can just leave?

Oh. You want to be paid the rest of your salary for the remaining 6 months? That’s a totally different thing.

You want to leave AND be paid for not staying? Isn’t that called having your cake and eating it?

If you love the club as much as you say you do why ask the club to pay you on top of letting you leave?

Don’t you see that if the club agrees to let you cancel your contract the money that you would have been entitled to for the rest of your contract can be spent buying a replacement forward?

What are your options then?

These seems to be the only options :

a.      Stay at the club and be paid your salary but be banished to the reserves;
b.      Apologise to the club, the team, the fans, everyone for everything you said in the interview;
c.      Sue the club to be released from your contract;
d.      Ask to be released from your contract and accept a simple ‘drop hand’s outcome and part ways with the club paying you nothing.

Let’s be clear, even if there was the slightest chance the club would have agreed to let you leave AND pay you your salary for the remaining months of your contract you blew that up when you gave that interview.

You’ve made a rod for your own back by trying to back the club into a corner because the club can never agree to letting you leave and paying out your contract if the same thing can happen with another player.

We know options a and b aren’t acceptable to you.

With option c by the time the case comes up for trial you would already have left the club.

Looks like option d is you only realistic option unless you want to go down option c when you have your family to think about.

What shall it be Ronnie?

Alejandro Garnacho fired Manchester United to their first FA Youth Cup win since 2011 as Nottingham Forest were edged out in front of a record-breaking crowd at Old Trafford.

There were 67,492 in attendance for Wednesday's final, smashing the competition's previous record of 38,187, as the United teenagers provided a much-needed boost at the end of a wretched season for the club.

United captain Rhys Bennett's opener had been cancelled out when Joshua Powell's shot all too easily beat Radek Vitek just before half-time, but Travis Binnion's U18s were not to be denied.

Garnacho replicated Cristiano Ronaldo's celebration after firing home a penalty - wrongly awarded as he had been fouled by Zach Abbott outside the box - and struck a deflected stoppage-time effort to seal a 3-1 victory.

The 17-year-old made his first-team debut last month and starred on the run to the final, where Warren Joyce's Forest made the hosts sweat on their way to winning the competition for a record 11th time.

United notified the New York Stock Exchange of the sale on Tuesday evening, in the names of club directors Kevin Glazer and Edward Glazer.

The statement makes it clear the club "will not receive any proceeds from the sale".

It comes five months after United's Premier League game against Liverpool was postponed due to fan protests.

That followed the collapse of the European Super League project which saw United co-chairman Joel Glazer heavily involved in the negotiations.

In March, Avram Glazer sold £70m worth of shares in the club.

The sale represents 8% of the family's total combined ownership, although they will still hold a combined 69% of the shares in United and sources say they remain committed to the club.

It is almost certain the shares will be sold at a price lower than the Stock Market value because of the sheer number being sold.

United co-chairman Joel Glazer has twice attended Fans' Forums in the wake of the supporter unrest and pledged to make shares available to fans.

In September, he said implementing a share scheme was "rather complex", but added: "we're jumping those hurdles" and hoped to bring the initiative to a conclusion "in the not-too-distant future".]]>

The former Chelsea youth coach will handle set-pieces and work one-to-one with individual players.

"We've been fortunate enough to convince Eric Ramsay to come and join," said United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"We're excited, he's young, fresh and with new ideas, an innovative coach we know from before."

Ramsay joined Shrewsbury as head of youth in 2017 before becoming academy manager and then eventually a senior assistant coach.

Ed Woodward will continue at Manchester United until the end of 2021; he had already agreed with the Glazers, United's owners, that he would leave Old Trafford, but the announcement has been brought forward

Manchester United has today announced that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will step down from his role at the end of 2021.

Woodward joined United in 2005 and became executive vice-chairman in 2012.

Ed Woodward said:

“I am extremely proud to have served United and it has been an honour to work for the world’s greatest football club for the past 16 years.

“The club is well positioned for the future and it will be difficult to walk away at the end of the year.

“I will treasure the memories from my time at Old Trafford, during a period when we won the Europa League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. I am proud of the regeneration of the club’s culture and our return to the Manchester United way of playing.

“We have invested more than £1bn in the squad during my time here and I am particularly delighted with the progress the players have made under the astute leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching team in the last two years.

“I am sure that with the changes we have made on-field and to the coaching and football staff in recent years this great club will soon be lifting silverware again. It deserves to.

Solskjær scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for United between 1996 and 2007. In 2008 he became the club’s reserve-team manager, before taking the managerial role at FC Molde in Norway.

Solskjær will take charge of the first team with immediate effect and will remain in place while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new full-time manager. He will be joined by Mike Phelan as first-team coach, working alongside Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna.

“Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role. I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club,” said Solskjær.
