Who'd be a premier league manager? You look at our squad and it still looks like there's strength in depth. Then, you come up against a decent (not brilliant) chelski side and we looked thin through the middle again. Centre backs looked solid enough and had little drogba in their pockets, really. But, with Rio and Vidic struggling for fitness, we're down to bare bones there, too. With full fitness, though, we should have more than enough defensive cover.
Midfield needs more creativity. Carrick has not reached his full potential and Fletch was never going to be the creator - more a destroyer. Anderson has good pace and tries hard, but not like Scholes of old.
I think we're OK for wide players. Potential for strikers is pretty good, but never say never.
In short, you're probably right. A like-for-like replacement for Scholes, with an eye for a raking pass, creative on the edge of the box and not afraid to get up and down the pitch.
