How the goals were scored:

Anderson

Left Foot

vs. Tottenham Hotspur (A) - From a cleared United corner the ball finds itself to Paul Scholes who is on the inside right channel. Scholes's shot is off-target and is deflected away off a Tottenham player. The ball falls to Anderson on the right side of the D, which he promptly buries[!] into the bottom right corner of the goal with his left foot.

Berbatov

Header

vs. Fulham(H) - After a spell of seemingly harmless United position in midfield, the ball makes its way to Rooney on the left side of attacking midfield. He plays a majestic cross-field ball out to Ji Sung Park on the right flank. The Korean swings a peach of a cross into the box where both Nani and Berbatov are waiting to connect. Fortunately for Dimitar, it is he who converts via a stooping header at the near post to seal a brilliant passage of play.

Left Foot

vs. Burnley(H) - Slow build-up.. ball falls to Rooney in the central area of the attacking third about 5 yard away from the d. Rooney plays a through-ball into the left attacking channel in line with the 6 yard box. Berbatov takes it in stride whilst veering away from goal and shoots with his left foot. His shot takes a slight deflection and nestles comfortably in the net to the far right of Burnely's stranded keeper.

Right Foot

vs. Wigan Athletic (A) - Nani starts the move on the left side of the final 3rd. He plays the ball inside to Rooney who instantly one-touches it into Scholes' path. Scholes dinks the ball 6 or so yards into Berbatov's path. Berbatov dinks the ball on the half-volley out of the path of the onrushing Kirkland and then finishes with his right down the middle of the goal.

vs. Stoke City (A) - The ball is played through to Fletcher in the middle of the final third, he slides Giggs in through left-inside channel. Giggs seizes the given advantage and plays the ball square across the byline where it is greedily gobbled up by the lurking Berbatov, who puts it away via a rolled effort with his right foot.

vs. Sunderland(H) - O'Shea plays a cross into the box from a deep position in the right attacking third. The flighted ball played into the box falls short of the line of United players' heads, but is still in flight for any kind of acrobatic attempt.. Berbatov so happens to provide a reverse side-volley with his right foot into the bottom-right corner with his attempt at goal of the season.

vs. Blackburn Rovers(H) - Evra shoots from 22 yards out and wildly miscues his ground-driven shot, which is careering wide right from his inside-left position. Berbatov skilfully controls the deviating shot via a delightful on-the-spot chip into the air, which stuns the Blackburn defense and gives Berbatov the time to swivel and volley home acrobatically into the bottom left corner with his right foot.

vs. Hull City(A) - Hull's keeper kicks the ball into the United end and it is met firmly by the head of Vidic, who ends up playing the ball directly into Rooney's path on the inside-left flank. Rooney strides forward maintaining the inside-left position and gets himself intot he Hull box where he is pitted against two defenders. Rooney is seemingly held up, but is actually biding his time for as long as it takes for Berbatov to be in position for a delightful ball... Rooney plays a deft, low-swept pass through the legs of the first Hull defender and teasingly past the stranded keeper and second defender right into Berbatov's 'on-strolling' path where he is left with a simple tap-in to finish off a bit of genuine magic in a game bereft of any quality.

vs. Wigan Athletic(H) - Valencia once again takes the folorn Wigan defence to the cleaners down the right flank as he drives down the touch-line and gets a cross into the box, which, by now is overloaded with goal-hungry United players on every attack. Somehow, a Wigan player is sitting on the floor and plays a hand in getting the ball to Berbatov who is 3 yards away. The cross Valencia plays into the box takes a nick of said Wigan player and drops perfectly into Berbatov's path. Berbatov takes one touch with his left to deaden the ball and quickly follows that up with a finish into the bottom left corner with the outside of his right boot.

vs. Portsmouth(H) - Rooney plays a delightful, high-chipped ball from the halfway line into the path of Berbatov. The Bulgarian takes the ball down decently enough, but takes himself too wide to take the ball directly on toward goal. He dawdles some, carrying the ball off-centre left on the edge of the penalty box. Portsmouth's woefully forlorn backline do nothing and let the Bulgarian stroll across the line of their box without closing him down. Berbatov cannot believe his luck as he casually draws his foot back and sends a low drive into the bottom right corner of the net with his right foot.

vs. Everton(A) - Valencia's fizzed cross is calmly and deftly collected by Berbatov in the middle of the box. The Bulgarian takes a first touch that knocks the ball out of his feet - whilst helping him shield it from the onrushing defenders - and his second touch is a powerful drive from six or so yards out that ricochets off the crossbar before zooming into the net.

vs. Bolton Wanderers(A) - Berba runs in on a parried Fletcher shot and taps home the rebound.

vs. Bolton Wanderers(A) - Nani turns his man inside out on the left side of the penalty box before playing a deft, low pass/cross to Berbatov who converts with a nutmeg-shot through a Bolton player with the outside of his right boot.

Carrick

Right Foot

vs. Wolfsburg(H)[CL] - A throw-in is forced near the left corner flag at Wolfsburg's end. The ball is thrown in to Rooney who swerves a flighted ball into the 6-yard box (near the left upright) for Berbatov. The Bulgarian controls the ball and then plays a short cut-back to Giggs who then plays the ball into Carrick's path where he is about 18 yards from goal. Carrick deftly bends the ball into the top-right corner of the net with his right foot.

vs. Wigan Athletic(H) - Within 30 seconds on the first goal going in, United scor a second via Carrick's right boot. Wigan lost the ball from their kick-off at which point Berbatov plays a sublime 30 yard pass out to the right-attacking third into the path of a motoring Valencia. Valencia continues his direct run right into Wigan's box and to their byline. For all intent and purpose, it looks like he'll simply cross it square to any of the first wave of attackers looking for the tap-in, but he cuts the ball back... for Carrick, who is left to drive home from 12 yards out with his low drive.

vs. Manchester City(H)[cc] - Nani drops a smart, chipped ball into Fletcher, who is inside the penalty area off-centre right of the spot. Fletcher takes the ball down and attempts a shot on goal, which fails. The ball falls kindly to him and he takes advantage of the dissaray the situation causes for the City defence by playing a short ball out to Carrick, who is 5 yards or so behind Fletcher on a diagonal right. Carrick deftly passes the ball into the net just inside the right post with his right foot, bypassing 3 City defenders and leaving their keeper stranded with his accuracy.

Left Foot

vs. Everton(H) - Giggs' long, looping corner eventually ends up at Rooney's feet on the right side of the Everton penalty box. Rooney miscues his attempted cross-shot so badly that the ball ends up at Giggs' feet a few yards from the left corner flag. Giggs tees up and drives a low ball out to the edge of the 'd' where Carrick gleefully strokes home to the bottom right corner with his left foot.

Diouf

Header

vs. Burnley(H) - Valencia's long, looping, weighted ball from the right wing at the halfway line is met by United's newest addition. Diouf's opportunism sees him in on goal with an on-rushing keeper bearing down on him at the edge of the penalty area. He deftly nods the ball past the forlorn keeper and sees it trickle over the line and into an [now]empty net.

Fletcher

Header

vs. Manchester City(H) - After interplay down the left flank, Giggs crosses the ball into Fletcher, who heads it - with the aid of a slight deflection - into the top right corner of the net.

vs. Manchester City(H) - Giggs finds Fletcher at the far post with a high-flighted cross from the left corner flag, Fletch half heads and shoulders it into the net.

vs. AC Milan(H)[CL] - After a melee of misses and whiffed opportunites against a Milan side that have given up, Manchester United finally convene to finally put the ball in the net. Rafael's deep cross to the far post is met by Fletcher as his header back across the goal beats the brow-beaten keeper for the fourth time of the night.

Right Foot

vs. Everton(H) - Evra crosses high and long from the left attacking third. Valencia meets the cross with a deftly headed ball across the edge of the box into the path of Fletcher. Fletcher hits a right-footed half-volley Van Basten would've given a nod to as the ball flights brilliantly away from Howard and swerves into the top-left corner of the net.

Gibson

Right Foot

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(H)[CC] - Park picks up the ball on the left side of the offensive end of the centre circle and moves forward about ten yards before squaring to Anderson on his inside channel. Anderson rolls the ball squarely to Gibson who is off-centre right of the attacking third. Gibson takes a touch and then hits the ball with his right foot with a precise, low-driven twenty five yard shot that beats Gomez and nestles comfortably in the bottom left corner of the goal.

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(H)[CC] - United break on a counter at right-back(position), the ball ends up on the left attacking third where Park plays the ball to Berbatov, who in turn plays a eighteen yard squared pass infield to Gibson, who is on the right side of the D. Gibson plays a one-two with Welbeck(on his inside) and then finishes off the best move of the game with a wonderful 20 yard outswinging curler that beats Gomez all ends up and nestles in the top-right corner of the net.

vs. West Ham United(A) - After numerous failed attempts to get a humdinger on target, Gibson finally finds his shooting boots after a ball played into him from Giggs off the back of a fantastic break that started out in the left-back position. Giggs breaks at full pace from the halfway line and plays a quick one-two with Rooney, who then plays Giggs infield to continue his assualt on the hapless 'ammers trying to track him as he runs on a diagonal to the inside left position, where he plays Gibson in.... Gibson's shot moves so fast that the cameras can barely track it correctly as it rockets into the top right corner of the net - on the keeper's near side. The shot was hit with his right foot.

vs. Bolton Wanderers(A) - Nani leads a strong counter-attack down the left flank before weaving his way into space for a cross with some nifty footwork. With a number of United players to pick from, Nani choses the shorter pass closer to the near post for Gibson to open up his body and cushion a right-footed effort, with trademark power high into the Bolton net.

vs. Bayern Munich(H) [CL QF 2nd leg] - United come out like wildire and on one such driving attack, Rafael plays the ball infield to Rooney who is in the vicinity associated with the #10 position. Rooney plays the ball onward a few yards to his outside (inside right) to Gibson, who takes a touch to his right and hits the ball (with his right) earlier than either the Bayern defenders or goalkeeper expected, so much so, that Bayern's keeper was blind-sided by his own defender and saw, what was a tame shot by Gibson's standards, beat him at his near post on the bounce.

Giggs

Left Foot

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(A)[fk] - Giggs scores from a free kick that is about 27 yards out and just off-centre-left of the D. He bends and lifts the ball from this position into the top right corner over the outstretched right hand of Cudicini.

vs. Wolfsburg(H)[CL][fk] - Giggs takes a direct free-kick from the right edge of the penalty box. The intended inswinger to the near post takes a heavy deflection and ends up inside the far post.

vs. Portsmouth(A)[Fk] - The ball is off-centre left of the D. Giggs steps up and bends it round the wall and leaves the ball nestling in the bottom left corner of the goal ith his left foot.

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(H)[pk] - Evra is taken down in the Spurs box for a penalty after good work from Berbatov sends the Spurs backline into dissaray. Giggs steps up and buries a precise penalty into the bottom left corner of the net. Gomes manages to get a touch of the ball, but the accuracy and pace of the shot completely negates it.

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(H)[pk] - Nani's run comes to halt as a Spurs player brings him down from behind in the penalty area. Giggs steps up for a second time and buries the penalty into the bottom right corner of the net. As with the first penalty, the pace and the accuracy renders Gomes' correct dive irrelevant as he is again beaten by the stringency of the taker.

Right Foot

vs. Manchester City(A)[CC] - Giggs puts a tap-in away off a rebounded Rooney attempt with his right foot.

Macheda

Torso/Hand

vs. Chelsea(H) - Nani works a cross into the centre of the penalty area, Macheda parries the ball into the goal with his body/arm, depending on whom you ask.

Nani

Right Foot

vs. Wigan Athletic (A) - Nani stands left-centre of the D to take a direct free kick. He bends the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal with sufficient speed and whip to leave the keep stranded on his line.

vs. Bayern Munich(H) [CL QF 2nd leg] - United win a throw-in near the halfway line on the right side of the pitch. Rafael throws the ball down the line and Valencia rushes on to it. He dinks the ball around the first Bayern player who comes to tackle him and collects the ball on the other side of the play whilst running on a diagonal into the box, from there he drives a fierce cut-back in line with Rooney in the centre of the box, Rooney realises the ball is not for him - not that he could've got to it, anyway - and sees it zoom off on the same diagonal straight into Nani's path in the inside-left position and just inside the box. Nani hits the ball first time with his right foot high and hard into the roof of the net.

vs. Bayern Munich(H) [CL QF 2nd leg] - Valencia runs his man to a standstill out wide-right about five yards from the corner flag. Whilst slowing the play to a near halt, it seems all advantage is lost as the Bayern defender stands steadfast in the face of Valencia's unspectacular feints only for the Ecuadorian to suddenly drive fiercely to the right and whip in a ferocious, low-driven ball into the box. Seemingly, the play is lost as the ball is played behind Nani - nobody told Nani that, however, as he converts by using the inside of his right heel to clip the ball deceptively behind his standing left leg deftly into the bottom left corner of the net, leaving the keeper with absolutely no chance of getting near the ball - despite his second-later leap to reach a ball that had already bested him.

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(H) - Fletcher plays the ball infield to Macheda's inside-right position from the right, attacking third. Macheda takes a touch and then plays a through-ball forward to Nani whose first touch takes him away from King - inside the box on the right side - and also tees him up for a chance on goal whilst also forcing Gomes to make a decision on whether to come out and face the threat or stay on his line. Gomes decides to come out, which instinctively sees Nani deftly dink the ball over him and into the net with his right boot.

vs. Sunderland(A) - A decent build up between Rooney and Berbatov leads to a breakdown via Berbatov's overhit high-ball pass to Rooney, which can only be headed forlornly into Fletcher's path. Fletcher plays Nani through on goal on the right and the Portuguese drives home with his right foot from a tight angle back across the keeper to the left upright.

Owen

Header

vs. Wolfsburg(A)[cl] - Sequence as follows: Fletcher (right flank), into Owen (inside right channel), onto Scholes (5 yards further inside), out wide to Nani (left flank) who cuts infield onto his right foot and delivers an infield cross with his right foot to the centre of the goal-mouth, where Owen nods a downward header home from 5 or so yards out to the bottom right corner of the net.

Right Foot

vs. Wigan Athletic (A) - Berbatov picks the ball up from deep off-centre left and plays it into Nani through the middle. Nani saunters across the middle of the pitch from left-centre to right-centre and then plays a delightful reverse through ball into the left-centre channel for Owen to latch onto. Owen takes the ball away from the keeper and then deftly dinks it inside the right upright with his left foot.

vs. Manchester City(H) - With 96[!] minutes on the clock, Giggs calmly plays a 20 yard pass through four City bodies right into the onrushing path of Owen inside the box on the left side of the penalty spot. Owen takes the ball out of his feet with his first touch and then calmly slots it under Given with the outside of his right boot to seal the derby and leave the bitters sour for a few more years., or at least until the next time we play 'em..

vs. Barnsley(A)[cc] - Anderson plays the ball into Owen from the inside-left channel, Owen takes a moment to correct his feet and then cuts inside and runs a slight diagonal touching the ball a few times before rolling the ball along the ground and inside the right post with his right foot.

vs. CSKA Moscow(H)[cl] - Valencia's cross is played slightly behind the line of Manchester United attackers. Nani backheels the ball into the path of Owen who pounces on the chance to convert, burying the ball in the bottom left corner with his right foot.

vs. Wolfsburg(A)[cl] - Obertan is played into the final third of the left flank and has two men tailing him. He bamboozles them both with some neat footwork and flashes a low drive across the box. Owen works himself into a position where he only has to get a foot on the ball to bury it. The finish is with his right foot.

vs. Wolfsburg(A)[cl] - Wolfsburg have a corner in the closing minutes of the game. The ball is played into the United penalty area and their play breaks down. Fletcher breaks with the ball and carries it ten yards up the middle of the pitch before playing the ball wide left to Obertan. Owen is breaking on the inside left of Obertan and is released via a pass up the channel by Obertan. With Wolfsburg's defence in dissaray, Owen chunders along on a diagonal run from wide left to the centre of the pitch and a one on one with the keeper. He beat the keeper with a right-footed chip straight down the middle of the goal.

vs. West Ham United(H) – Evra – in the attacking third on the left flank – is tussling with two West Ham defenders. In the ensuing melee a West Ham player is downed whilst the ball finally falls to Owen who is also out on the left flank. Owen plays a short ball infield to Park, who plays the ball further infield to Gibson, who in turn plays the ball on to Scholes who is off-centre left and near the inside-left position. West Ham’s player is down whilst the play proceeds - Owen continues his run and bypasses the West Ham backline by running on the outside shoulder to the left of the CB on his side before latching onto Scholes’ through-ball and facing up to the keeper 1 vs. 1 before delicately bending the ball around him with his right foot, having it hit the right post before passing the goal-line.

vs. Aston Villa[CC-final](N) - Dunne makes a complete hash of clearing his lines on the inside-left channel of the pitch with Berbatov tracking and then capitalising on Dunne's stumble. The big Irishman loses possession of the ball as Berbatov sets away with the ball on the diagonal towards goal. Berbatov manages to get inside the box on the same diagonal line with Dunne hunting him down, but cannot do anything as he is tackled by the persistent Dunne. The loosely won ball falls perfectly into the path of Owen who is following the line of the two bustling opponents, and he neatly passes the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his right foot.

Own Goal

Hand

vs. Arsenal(A) - Nani finds himself hemmed in on the right-attacking flank about eight yards from the byline and a yard or so from touch. He has two Arsenal bodies surrounding him; one on his inside and the other closing up the rear. Nani looks completely unperterbed, even having time to look up and assess the scenario calmly. The reason for this is that he has a trick up his sleeve, which sees him chop the ball with the inside heel of his right foot past his inside leg and leaving his trackers for dead. He carries his run on diagonally forward towards the touchline where he beats a third man whilst quickly closing in on the Arsenal 6-yard box. From there, Nani attempts a lofted pass to the back post, which is instead met by the outstretched and forlorn fingertips of Almunia, who can only tip the ball into his own net. Either way it would've been a goal, as behind him, Park was waiting to poke the ball home.

Header

vs. Arsenal(H) - Diaby heads into his own net from a set-piece free-kick played into the box by Giggs.

Left Foot

vs. Sunderland(H) - During the ensuing injury-time melee the ball finds it way to Evra at around 17 yards on the left side near the D. Evra takes a swing at the ball and his shot is veering out, wide of the right upright only for the glorious intervention of Anton Ferdinand, whose splayed body provides the deflection goalward to tie the game.

vs. Birmingham City(A) - Evra drives a low cross into the box. An opposing defender has the misfortune of turning it into his own net with a beautiful sliding, scrambled effort that any poacher worth his salt would've been proud of.

Right Foot

vs. Bolton Wanderers(H) - Evra's cut-back cross is met near the 6 yard box by Owen whose misdirected header is sent goal-ward and into the bottom right corner by way of Bolton's Zack Knight and his right shin.

vs. CSKA Moscow(H)[cl] - Valencia's veering shot is deflected from its wayward trajectory away from goal off the back of a CSKA defender, which completely wrong foots Akinfeev and has the ball nestle in the middle of the goal.

vs. Hull City(A) - A Hull attack breaks down and United hit them on the counter. Rooney thunders upfield - covering at least 70 yards to be in position to cut across central-attacking midfield and latch onto Giggs' through-ball on the inside-right channel. From his newfound inside-right position, Rooney plays a lethal, low-driven ball across the Hull goal-mouth. The onrushing Dawson has little choice but to try and deal with the ball - as Park is running parallel with him waiting to tap home should he miss. Dawson promptly buries the ball into his own net in a situation where most defenders would end up doing the exact same.

vs. Portsmouth(H) - Nani's short, low pass across the box is deflected off a Portsmouth defender, which completely wrong-foots the stranded James, who has to watch the ball trickle towards his near post and bounce off his foot into the goal.

vs. Portsmouth(H) - Carrick takes a mid-distance shot on, which is heading somewhere to the right. The ball is deflected abruptly by a Portsmouth player and immediately changes trajection and flies into the goal off the underside of the crossbar on the left side of the goal.

vs. Portsmouth(H) - Evra once again sees a cross of his spectacularly turned into the opposing net by an opposing player. This time out, Evra's deep, left-sided, flighted cross is volleyed home with tremendous skill in a manner that any all-time great volleyer of the ball would be proud of.

vs. Aston Villa(A) - Nani's long, looping cross from the right, attacking third, finds Giggs on the left side of Villa's 6-yard box. Giggs drives the ball across the Villa goalmouth and it's turned in by yet another hapless opposing player.

vs. Bolton Wanderers(A) - Own Goal collects his 11th of the season with a sublime right-footed conversion by J. Llyod Samuel off of an evil, low-driven flashed cross from the left side by Giggs.

O'Shea

Header

vs. Stoke City(A) - A free-kick is conceded on the right side of the final third, which is taken by Giggs who bends a sumptuous ball into the danger area. O'Shea heads the perfectly flighted ball into the left-centre side of the net.

Park

Head

vs. Liverpool(H) - The best passing interchange of the game leads United to finally getting the ball out wide right to Fletcher. Gary Neville makes a deep, overlapping run and draws Insua away from Fletcher as he expects the ball to be nudged on. Fletcher exploits this newfound space by playing a peach of a cross into the box, which causes a frantic scramble to stop Rooney... Park steals in and diving heads the ball home, leading to questions of: 'wtf did he pop up from?'

Right

vs. Arsenal(A) - Yet another Arsenal attack is nulified in midfield by a combination of Rooney, Carrick and Park. From their nominal positions they merge to suffocate an isolated Arsenal attacker and with the ball won, they all split apart with Rooney laying the ball back to Carrick, who plays a lofted pass over the Arsenal backline into the path of the onrushing Park. Park takes a number of touches whilst continuing into the Arsenal box, he then beats Almunia with a low shot to the bottom left of the goal-mouth with his right foot.

vs. AC Milan(H)[CL] - United, now in control of the game, go through a rather languid build-up that lulls the less than astute Milan side into thinking no threat is imminent as Valencia works his flank and then cuts the ball back to Scholes on the inside-right channel. Scholes masks his intent by appearing to be winging up for a shot, but instead slides Park in down the inside-right channel with a perfectly weighted through-ball. The Korean cleverly swivels on the pass whilst simultaneously taking a touch forward to evade any marker and play himself into space for a shot, which he doesn't disappoint with as he beats the keeper and slides the ball inside the left upright.

Rafael

Left

vs. Wigan Athletic(H) - Carrick, standing in his nominal position, plays the ball infield to Fletcher, who is also standing in his nominal CM position. Fletcher plays a speculative ball forward - essentially to a red shirt to carry the play on. The player who receives the ball happens to be Rafael who is cutting across the box from the right wing - in line with the edge of the box. Rafael takes the ball in his stride and immediately beats the first man in a mass of Wigan bodies. Rafael's touch takes him slightly away from goal and sees him standing at the edge of the d and facing away from goal. A 180 degree turn from this position later - whilst knocking the ball further infield with his right foot, and Rafael is facing goal-ward with the ball between his feet and opposing bodies on either side of him. Because of his knock-on touch with his right foot and his subsequent rolling turn, he ends up perfectly teed up for a left-footed shot. He takes it on and buries it low and slightly to the right, but more underneath an unexpectant, sprawling keeper who was just as bedazzled by Rafael's nifty feet as everyone else watching the play unfold.

Rooney

Header

vs. Wigan Athletic (A) - Valencia works the right flank for 30th time and finally gets a connect in the box; by way of Rooney's powerful header into the top-right area of the goal.

vs. Hull City(H) - Nani's picture-perfect right-footed cross from the right attacking third is met by a low-directed header by Rooney into the bottom left corner of the goal thus completing his hatrick.

vs. Manchester City(H)[cc] - Giggs plays a short corner with Valencia, who plays a short ball back to Giggs, who has, by now, come short himself to remain onside. Giggs drops a first-time cross right into the centre of the goal where Rooney prowls and pounces with a header straight into the middle of the goal.

vs. Portsmouth(H) - Fletcher puts in a superb cross from just inside the attacking third on the right side of the pitch. Rooney nods home from 6 yards out, unchallenged... Portsmouth are in such a bad way that it's hard to dramatise such a simple goal...

vs. AC Milan(A)[cl] - Valencia beats his isolated full-back and runs straight towards touch. From there he puts an unexpected high, looping cross into the box, which Milan's defense were totally unprepared for. Rooney slips his man and judges the flight of the ball better than anybody else in the box and sends it back in the direction it just came from with a high, looping header, which nestles comfortably inside the left upright, leaving Dida completely at sea.

vs. AC Milan(A)[cl] - With Milan looking like they'd given up the ghost, United started to run rampant. During this period of the game, many runs and breaks were not being tracked well by the ageing Milan midfield. On this particular occasion, Fletcher finds himself free in space on the inside-left position, with Rooney running straight through the unadjusted Milanese backline. Fletcher has all the time in the world to place a delightful chipped cross/through-ball over the last centre-back whilst playing Rooney clean through on goal. Rooney takes the ball on with his head and puts it in the net to the right of the keeper.

vs. West Ham United(H) - Vidic breaks up a West Ham Attack on his nominal side of the pitch and then carries the ball forward to the half line. At this point, the ball is played into the middle of the pitch to Park. The Korean carries the ball a few steps before passing through to Berbatov who is hovering around the inside-left position. Berbatov takes a couple of touches before playing a nicely lofted pass out to Valencia on the right who is few centimetres inside the box. Valencia plays a first-time, cushioned and volleyed pass into Rooney – who is prowling in the 6-yard box, as he is so wont to do as a pseudo #9 – who meets the ball with a stooping header back across the keeper and into the net. A brilliant sequential goal and the best move of the game.

vs. West Ham United(H) – Berbatov, this time standing on the inside-right channel, plays the Ecuadorian in down the right channel. Valencia latches onto the ball and again finds Rooney with a cross; the newfound striker gleefully tucks it away with his head.

vs. Aston Villa[CC-final](N) - Valencia runs down the inside right channel and plays a short ball into Berbatov, who is only a few metres deeper. Valencia recieves a deft back-heel flick-on from Berba' that takes him slightly away from the direction his course was set on. Valencia takes the ball towards touch and then scoops a good cross into the box, which Rooney makes a glorious cross with a world-class looping header back across the outstrecthed Freidel's hand and into the top right corner of the net. A truly outstanding header.

vs. AC Milan(H)[CL] - Neville plays an absolute peach of a cross from just inside the final third which fizzes into Rooney who uses the pace of the ball to turn it into the net to bottom left side of the keeper via a jumping header.

Left Foot

vs. Tottenham Hotspur(A) - A speculative long ball down the right flank from Fletcher is collected by an on-rushing Wayne Rooney, who promptly turns inside and battles with one man, easily beating him before nutmegging the second and running square across the box near the penalty spot, he then procedes to nutmeg the keeper with a low, considered stroke of the ball right down the middle of the goal.

vs. Blackburn Rovers(H) - Obertan carries the ball up the left wing flanked by Anderson. Obertan plays the ball into Anderson's stride, which gives Anderson the chance to look up and play a choice ball across the box - Rooney swoops in on Anderson's nifty cross to cushion a cross-shot, side-foot volley into the bottom right corner with his left foot.

vs. Hull City(A) - After a melee in the box, the ball finds its way out to the right-attacking flank where Fletcher plays a low, bending cross back into the box. Giggs misses the swerving ball with an attempted back-heel, flick-on, which sees the ball drop comfortably into the centre of the box, and the awaiting Rooney who puts it away with his left foot.

vs. Fulham(H) - Fulham make a complete hash of clearing their lines as the ball eventually finds its way to Rooney - by way of a headed knock-on touch from Berbatov - on the left side of the d. Rooney plays the ball out wide left to Nani, who quickly squares the ball into the onrushing Rooney's path right down the middle of the penalty area. From there, Rooney sweeps home with his left foot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Right Foot

vs. Birmingham City(H) - Rooney heads the ball against the right post and then tucks home the rebound with his right foot.

vs. Wigan Athletic (A) - The ball is played up to Berbatov through the centre of the attacking third, he weights a ball into Rooney's path inside the box on the left side of the pitch. Rooney sorts his feet out after a poor first touch and shoots to the far(right) post; the ball deflects off a Wigan CB and drops inside the near(left) post into the goal.

vs. Arsenal(A)[pk] - Rooney is felled by an on-rushing Aluminia and is awarded a penalty. He steps up and takes it himself - burying it in the upper-right side of the goal with his right foot, whilst sending the keeper the wrong way.

vs. Manchester City(H) - City fall asleep on a throw-in near the left corner flag. United take advantage with a quick throw to Evra who speeds into the box and cuts the ball back to Rooney who dribbles through two men and buries the ball in the bottom right corner with his right foot.

vs. Portsmouth(A)[Pk] - Blasted into the mid-right side with the right foot.

vs. Portsmouth(A) - Fletcher - who is standing in the centre circle - plays a lofted pass into the path of Giggs on the inside-right channel. Giggs deftly plays the ball into Rooney's crosshairs off-centre left in the penalty area. Rooney converts smoothly with his left foot.

vs. Portsmouth(A)[Pk] - Blasted into the bottom-right side with the right foot.

vs. West Ham United(A) - With West Ham still in dissaray from the third goal they'd just conceded, Valencia takes advantage and sprints down the right flank before driving a well placed low drive across the box for Rooney to tap-in with his right foot.

vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers(H)[pk] - Blasted into left-middle side of the net with Rooney's right foot.

vs. Wigan Athletic(H) - After a multi-man move upfield, the ball finds its way to Valencia at the right edge of the box. Valencia holds up the ball whilst waiting for Rafael's overlap on his flank and releases it in perfect sync with the Brazilian who carries the baton on and flashes a just-off-the-ground cross into the Wigan penalty area. Rooney meets the ball extremely early at the near post and pokes it home with his his fully outstretched right leg, much to the bemusement of the Wigan defence.

vs. Burnley(H) - Berbatov's low driven shot is parried back into a host of bodies in the centre of the penalty area. The ball ends up at Rooney's feet about 8 yards out dead-centre of the goal-mouth. He is quickly set upon by 3 Burnley players, which helps him make his mind to feint his first shot and shuffle to his right, he then pushes the ball further into this self-created path before planting the ball very purposefully into the bottom left corner of the goal.

vs. Hull City(H) - Scholes drives a 30-yarder goalward that Myhill manages to parry into the path of Rooney, who calmly takes the ball down and then taps home from 6 yards out with his right foot.

vs. Hull City(H) - Hull shambolically clear their lines from a corner by felling one of their own players, leaving him prone on the ground in the six yard box. The cleared ball falls from the sky into Nani's path off centre-left of the d. Nani plays a short-pass into Gibson who is dead-centre of the pitch just before the d. Gibson plays a short ball into the path of Rooney who is veering off into space off-centre-right in the penalty area and is being played onside by the downed Hull player. Rooney blasts the ball home straight down the middle of the goal with his right foot.

vs. Hull City(H) - Berbatov floats one of his - what looks like a trademark - deft lobs, into Rooney from off-centre left in the attacking third. Rooney controls the ball on the volley and carries it a few steps into the Hull penalty area where he is met by three Hull defenders, he takes a second volleyed touch, and then on the bounce, a third touch that provides him the space to swivel and bury the ball low and to the keeper's right to finish off a 4-goal romp.

vs. Arsenal(A) - As had occured for the majority of the game, an Arsenal attack was comfortably broken down before they were hit hard on the break. Rooney drops deep into his own half and wins the ball before playing it out wide to Nani on the right side of the pitch. Nani carries the ball forward a good 40 yards, whilst Rooney sprints from his deep position, carries his run past Nani, and arrives in the Arsenal box. Nani plays a perfectly measured low through-ball into Rooney's path and Rooney sweeps home a 9.2 second counter-attack with a right-footed stroke of the ball into the bottom left corner of the Arsenal goal.

vs. AC Milan(H)[CL] - Nani breaks from the halfway line on the left-hand side of the pitch. He carries his run through midfield and plays an exquiste ball with the outside of his right boot right into the path of Rooney, by way of bending the ball around the CB on the left side. Rooney takes the ball and taps home with his right foot, evading the onrushing keeper and having the ball trickle over the line.

vs. Fulham(H) - Carrick plays a rapier-like crossfield ball out to the right flank for the awaiting Berbatov, who takes the ball doen as if caressing a new-born and then proceeds to cut infield whilst fending off two Fulham players thus creating space that wasn't on previously. From this advantageous position inside the right area of the penalty box, Berbatov squares the ball to the open Rooney who is provided plenty of space as the right-sided CB is drawn out to face Berbatov. Rooney turns the ball into the bottom left upright with his right foot.

vs. Liverpool(H) - Valencia is dragged down for a penalty, which Rooney steps up to take. Our top-scorer's shot is magnificently saved by Reina, albeit on a shot to his left which was at a manageable height. The Spaniard parries the ball back into Rooney's path, and this time Rooney makes no mistake in tucking the ball away straight down the middle of the goal with his right foot.

vs. Bayern Munich(A)[quarter final 1st leg] - With barely a minute on the clock, Nani's right-sided corner is converted by an open Rooney a couple of yards out almost dead centre of the penalty spot. Rooney shoots high into the rought of the net with his right foot.

Scholes

Header

vs. Besiktas(A)[cl] - Valencia plays the ball diagonally across the box from the beginning of the final third to just outside the penalty area to the waiting Nani. Nani shifts his feet and works space for himself on the outside channel whereupon he shoots at goal. The keeper parries the ball into the path of Scholes who comfortably buries it with a header into the top right corner of the net.

vs. CSKA Moscow(H)[cl] - From a free kick, Neville whips in a good cross from the right side of the attacking third, which is met with a superb glancing header right into the top left corner by Scholes.

vs. Manchester City(A) - During the dying embers of injury time, Scholes, standing just inisde the offensive area of the centre circle, begins what would very probably be the last meaningful attack of the game. From Scholes, the ball is played seven yards forward to Evra... at which point Scholes begins an inconspicuous run toward the box. Evra plays the ball a few metres to his left diagonal and in to Obertan's path whilst continuing his own ascent. Obertan plays the ball a few yards forward to the edge of the penalty area's left-sided, 18 yard line. Evra plays a sublime(!?) cross into the box where the ghosting Scholes decides to reveal/de-cloak himself and power home a downward header to Given's right post beating him comfortably... with only 32 seconds of the game left to play, thus destroying City hearts in yet another crushingly similar vein.

Left Foot

vs. West Ham(A) - An attack is broken up with an attempted header out of the box by a West Ham defender. The ball breaks kindly to Scholes on the left side of the D. He takes a touch and then rockets a left-footed shot goal-ward to Green's left side. The keeper can but parry the shot into his own goal, such is the velocity and ferocity behind it.

vs. AC Milan(A)[cl] - Brilliant build up play leads to an opening on Milan's right flank. Fletcher cuts a low, bending cross into the box, which Scholes misjudges and completely air-shots with his right. The ginger genius foresaw this happening and had his left foot planted in the exact spot where any rogue ball may land... thus, prescience wins through as the ball is defeated and 'deflects' off of Scholes' standing foot and trickles inside the right post as the woefully slow Dida fails to propel his body with enough force to reach the ball. Trick shots? Scholes has those in the bag.

Right Foot

vs. Manchester City(H)[cc] - Rooney plays an amazing 30-yard ball on a dipping trajectory from the left flank just inside the United half right into the onrushing path of Giggs on the inside right channel. Giggs takes the ball down in stride and runs towards Given who closes the angle well enough for Giggs to over-run the ball and end up near the byline. Giggs keeps control of the ball and turns to his right, takes a touch, and then plays a short-ball to Nani about 8 yards inside the box on the right side of the penalty area. Nani is quickly closed down by three City players and loses the ball, Carrick is quickest on the uptake and manages to get a solid, short pass back to Scholes who is a couple a few yards back, Scholes drives a low shot into left side of the goal area with his right foot.

vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers(A) - From the ensuing melee caused by a Nani cross from the right side of the final third, Scholes finds himself 10 yards out, dead-centre of the penalty area with two Wolves' CB's in his way. He takes the ball to the right of the first man, and then dummy's to the right of the second, where he earns himself space on the diagonal angle to drive a low shot across the keeper and into the bottom left corner of the net, thus completing his 100th league goal for MUFC and winning us a vital 3pts at a time when hope looked rather lost.

Valencia

Right Foot

vs. Bolton Wanderers(H) - United break in tandem down the right with Neville and Valencia leading the charge. A quick - and rather clever - one-two between Valencia and Neville leads to a lay-off inside the box for a now open Valencia who blasts the ball into the right side of the net at little less than mid height. Good goal.

vs. CSKA Moscow[CL](A) - The ball is centred from the left by Nani for Berbatov to connect with. Berba' manages to flick the ball onward to the inside-right channel, where Valencia is waiting. Valencia takes the ball in stride and shoots low across the keeper with his right foot.

vs. Everton(H) - After a slow build up through the middle, the ball breaks to Scholes and he plays Valencia in on the right attacking third. Valencia's right-footed shot takes a deflection and nestles into the bottom left corner of the net.

vs. West Ham(A) - Rooney, standing dead-centre at the tip of the D, plays the ball out wide left into Anderson's path. Anderson plays a curling low pass across the face of the West Ham goal where Valencia greedily converts with a veritable tap-in with his right as a finish.

vs. Wolverhampton Wonderers(H) - Scholes - standing just off-centre right of the centre circle in the opposition half, plays the to Gibson, 8 or so yards on his inside channel. Gibson plays the ball back into to Scholes who chips the ball 13yards or so into Berbatov's right side inside Wolves' penalty area - with him facing the opposition box - Berbatov chips the ball over himself with a weighted pass right into the stride of the onrushing Valencia, who blasts the ball into the middle of the net with the outside of his right foot from about 8 yards out. Great goal.

vs. Wigan Athletic(H) - Fletcher plays the ball through the middle of the pitch on the defensive end of the centre circle into the path of Rooney on the off-centre left area of the pitch. Rooney carries the ball 20-25 yards whilst running on a diagonal across the pitch, ending up off-centre right of the D, before playing a delightful through-ball between 3 Wigan defenders, which rolls delicately into the onrushing Valencia's path. The keeper, realising too late that his entire defensive line had been breached, tries to come out to meet Valencia, but it's too late. Valencia has already got the outside of his right boot onto Rooney's pass and buried the ball into the left side of the goal.

Vidic

Header

vs. Wolverhampton Wonderers(H) - Gibson takes a well centred corner into the Wolves' box from the right corner flag. Vidic meets the ball with a strong header to the keeper's left foot(not far from the right upright). The hapless keeper can only watch as the ball stumbles across the goalmouth off his stranded leg.

Welbeck

Header

vs. Barnsley(A)[cc] - Anderson takes the corner from right side of the pitch and lofts a short ball to the near post where Welbeck comfortably sends the ball into the middle of the net with an unchallenged header.

Right Foot

vs. Wolverhampton Wonderers[CC](H) - Carrick into Welbeck, who passes to Owen on the edge of the D; Owen sends Welbeck through on goal with a delightful through-ball, which Welbeck buries into the bottom left corner with his right foo
