And it's off!
Quote:Manchester United have dropped all interest in Barcelona forward Pedro amid reported interest from Chelsea, according to Sky sources.
Spanish newspaper Marca have reported that the Blues have met the Spain international's £21.4m buy-out clause and that the player is already in London for a medical.
Sources in Manchester understand that United had the option of signing Pedro earlier in the window and they would have done so had it been possible.

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Turkish side Besiktas for goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Sky sources.
The Super Lig club's manager Senol Gunes, a former goalkeeper himself, will make the final decision on whether he wants the Spaniard and discussions over personal terms will take place if he does.

Not confirmed yet, but...
Quote:West Brom have agreed a fee of £6m plus £2m in add-ons with Manchester United to sign defender Jonny Evans.
Evans, 27, will travel to the Midlands on Saturday and is expected to finalise the move over the weekend.
The Northern Ireland international will not be available in time to feature in West Brom's match at Stoke.
Evans made 198 appearances for United and won three Premier League titles at Old Trafford but fell out of favour under manager Louis van Gaal.
Centre-back Evans, who had two loan spells at Sunderland, has not featured for United at all this season and has also been linked with Everton.

Quote:CELTIC are trying to land Manchester United starlet Tyler Blackett on a year-long loan.
The Old Trafford kid, who can play left back or centre half and has 11 first team appearances for United is valued at £4m and Celtic will try to buy him next summer if Blackett enjoys a successful loan stint at Parkhead.
The 21-year-old will arrive in Glasgow today for talks and is expected to watch Celtic’s match against St Johnstone before deciding whether to move north.

Quote:Sources in Spain and Manchester say that Real Madrid are confident of completing the signing of De Gea on Sunday after a saga that has lasted all summer. United officials are in the Spanish capital to negotiate a move but had been hoping to make a last-ditch bid to include Gareth Bale in any deal. Real, who are set to pay €40m (£29m) for De Gea ,are said to have no interest in letting Bale go. De Gea agreed personal terms some time ago.
United seem unlikely to make any other outfield signings during this window, but they are hopeful of securing the signing of Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen as De Gea’s replacement.

An agreement for David De Gea to join Real Madrid from Manchester United is believed to have been reached, with Keylor Navas moving the other way.
The deal is yet to be completed but it will also involve a cash payment from the Spanish giants, taking the overall value to 40m euros (£29m).
De Gea, 24, has been linked with a move to Real throughout the summer.
United manager Louis van Gaal opted not to pick him until the uncertainty over his future had been resolved.
De Gea's contract is due to expire in 2016 and United had previously indicated they wanted a world-record fee for a goalkeeper, or defender Sergio Ramos in exchange for De Gea.
Instead they will get 28-year-old Navas, who was Costa Rica's goalkeeper at last year's World Cup.
Manchester United are set to complete the £36m signing of Monaco forward Anthony Martial.
The 19-year-old, who has been linked with Arsenal, was allowed to leave the France squad on Monday to travel for a medical with Louis van Gaal's side.
Martial scored eight goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

De Gea's Deal has either collapsed or stalled, depending on which website you read!!!!
According to Sky:
Quote:David de Gea's transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid has stalled due to a delay over the paperwork.
Real and United agreed a deal of £29m, a figure which included goalkeeper Keylor Navas going in the opposite direction in exchange for De Gea.
However, La Liga has confirmed that it did not receive the relevant documents for the agreement by its deadline of midnight on August 31 - and Spanish newspaper Marca, known for its close ties with Real Madrid, believes the deal is off until January at the earliest.

According to the BBC:
Quote:David De Gea's £29m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid has collapsed because the necessary paperwork was not submitted in time.
No official announcement has yet been made by either club.
As part of the deal to sell De Gea to Real, United were planning to bring Keylor Navas in the opposite direction.
There is no precedent for Spanish clubs being given additional time to conclude transfers as there is in England.
Blame for the failure to complete the deal is already being apportioned.

Anthony Martial has returned to France after completing a medical ahead of his proposed Manchester United move.
Sky sources understand United will pay Monaco an initial £36m for the 19-year-old forward, making him the most expensive teenager in football history.
Martial was given permission to leave the France national squad on Monday but is now back with his compatriots ahead of their upcoming friendlies against Portugal and Serbia.

There is quite a bit of h "he said, she said" going on between Real Madrid and United. Who sent what paperwork and when.
Statements are being released to the press in order to save face from each club. Manchester United have said:
Quote:Manchester United notes Real Madrid’s statement on the attempt to sign David De Gea and sell Navas to Manchester United. The club feels compelled to provide some clarification with the following facts.
- Manchester United did not seek contact from Real Madrid for the sale of David. David is a key member of our squad and the club’s preference was not to sell.
- No offer was received for David until yesterday.
- At lunchtime yesterday, Real Madrid made its first offer to buy David. A deal was agreed between the clubs, which included Navas being transferred to Old Trafford. The deals were dependent on each other.
- In the last several hours of the process, with Navas at the Real Madrid training ground, Real Madrid were controlling the documentation processes of David, Navas and Real Madrid. Manchester United was in control only of the documentation of Manchester United.
- Manchester United sent transfer documents for both players to Real Madrid at 20:42 BST. David’s documentation was returned by Real Madrid to Manchester United without the signatory page at 22:32 BST.
- At 22:40 BST, minutes before the deadline, major changes to the documentation came through to Manchester United which immediately put the deals at risk.
- Only at 22:55 BST were the documents that are needed to cancel David’s contract received by Manchester United from Real Madrid.
- At this point Navas’ documentation was still not returned by Real Madrid.
- At 22:58 BST, the transfer agreement was sent back by Manchester United, uploaded onto TMS and accepted – all before the deadline.
- It is our understanding that the deals couldn’t happen because:
Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents onto TMS in time (Manchester United did)
Real Madrid didn’t upload David’s documents to the Spanish league in time, per reports it seems some 28 minutes after the deadline
- The fact that Manchester United filed the papers on time was acknowledged by the Football Association, who offered to support that claim in any discussions with FIFA. The club offered this assistance, as well as its own timestamped documents to Real Madrid but they have chosen not to go down this route.
Manchester United acts appropriately and efficiently in its transfer dealings. The club is delighted that its fan-favourite double Player of the Year, David de Gea, remains a Manchester United player.

While Real Madrid say this:
Quote:Following yesterday's events in relation to the intended signing of the player David de Gea, Real Madrid wishes to state:
1.- Manchester United did not open any channel of negotiation over the federative rights of David de Gea until yesterday morning.
2.- Real Madrid, despite the difficulties entailed in carrying out a deal of these characteristics on the final day of registration, agreed to begin these talks.
3.- When Manchester United agreed to negotiate yesterday morning, they made it subject to reaching an agreement with Real Madrid's Keylor Navas for the player to join the British club from this season, and stated that they were in contact with the aforementioned player's representatives.
4.- Real Madrid and Manchester United quickly reached an agreement for the transfers of both players. Following the drawing up of the relevant contractual documentation required, and with the purpose of proceeding with enough time to process both FIFA's Transfer Matching System (TMS) and the registration with the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, Real Madrid sent Manchester United the contracts at 13.39 Spanish time.
5.- Manchester United sent their remarks regarding the aforementioned contracts eight hours later, at 21.43 Spanish time, including minor modifications. As these modifications were not significant, they were all accepted immediately by Real Madrid, with the intention of being able to register the player on time both via the TMS and with the Liga de Fútbol Profesional.
6.- Real Madrid, having obtained the signatures of the players De Gea and Keylor Navas, sent the British club the aforementioned signed contracts at 23:32 Spanish time, before waiting to receive the final documents signed by Manchester United.
7.- Manchester United reached a final agreement with the representatives of Keylor Navas at 23:53 Spanish time, and it is at this point that the contracts were sent to the player to be signed.
8.- Manchester United entered the details of the David de Gea deal, not those of Keylor Navas, at 00:00 Spanish time, simultaneously sending Real Madrid the signed transfer contracts. Real Madrid received this complete documentation at 00:02 and attempted to access the TMS, but it was now closed.
9.- At 00:26 Spanish time, FIFA's TMS invited Real Madrid to fill out the details of the player David de Gea, as the period of registration in England remains open until today. Real Madrid, given the possibility of an administrative dispute over the player's transfer, decided to send the contracts to the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, despite the knowledge that the deadline had passed.
10.- In short, Real Madrid did everything necessary at all times to complete both transfers.

In short, Real now have to wait until January, when they can enter into contract negotiations for a free transfer of De Gea. We know he will go. I cannot see a massive turnaround from the player, who just doesn't want to be in Manchester. His girlfriend chooses to live in Madrid.
So, who gets the better deal? United, as they get to keep a World class keeper for another few months or Madrid who know they will get their man? United will lose around £29m as he will go on a free, but IF De Gea is back in the 1st team, he could be the difference between qualifying again next season for the Champions League, which means more money!
Strange one this one.

January Transfer Window 2016
Austrian centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic is set to become Manchester United’s first signing of the January transfer window, according to reports.
Dragovic, 24, was close to joining United last January, but the switch never materialised.
According to Sport Mediaset, though, the player is set to finally get his move, with it being claimed that a £16million deal taking him from Dynamo Kyiv to Old Trafford will be finalised in the coming hours.
Defence has been one United’s strong points this season, but given that they’ve actually only kept one clean sheet in their last six Premier League games, it appears that Louis van Gaal has decided to bolster his backline by bringing Dragovic in.

MANCHESTER UNITED have joined the chase for Algerian hotshot Islam Slimani.
Old Trafford scouts have been watching the Sporting Lisbon striker for the last two months.
The 27-year-old has scored 13 goals in 16 league games this season and would cost around £12million.
Slimani came close to joining Londoners West Ham in the summer but the deal fell through, while Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is also monitoring him.
But Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal has now jumped to the top of the queue with Slimani keen on making a move to the Premier League.
