Monthly Frustrating Question 1
#1
Lets rack your brains and take a trip back into history...

How many red cards did Roy Keane recieve in his Manchester United career, and who did he get them against? (No cheating!)
#2
Probably about 12 red cards, and most of them against Arsenal probably.
#3
about 11 and prob most v arse and the bluenoses
#4
Yup. I say 11. I recall he was sent off against Newcastle cos Shearer was a clown and wound him up! The Arse, maybe more than once, but most famously in the '99 semi when Sir Ryan scored THAT goal. Against citeh, too. Probably against Leeds, too.
Didn't Macateer wind him up? For Sunderland?
His first was a stamp (what, our Roy?) against Crystal Palace.
#5
Was his last against Porto when he stamped on their keeper.

He caught the keeper, yes. I had to look around the 'net and there is a small difference of opinion. Some sites record that he had 12 red cards during his United career, but don't mention if any were with the reserves, etc. but others do say 11.
I can't see what's cheating about that, as there were no rules actually set out and no one said I couldn't research, lol.

Answers:

1) April 12 1995, FA Cup semi-final v Crystal Palace at Villa Park: Sent off after stamping on Palace skipper Gareth Southgate and a scuffle with defender Darren Patterson.

2) August 28 1995, Premiership v Blackburn at Ewood Park: Dismissed in an ill-tempered match against title rivals Blackburn.

3) October 28 1995, Premiership v Middlesbrough at Old Trafford: Keane continued to be dogged by red mist and he was sent off for the third time in six months.

4) October 26 1996, Premiership v Southampton at The Dell: Keane was sent off again as United lose 6-3.

5) April 14 1999, FA Cup semi-final v Arsenal at Villa Park: Somewhat unfortunate to be sent off for two bookable offences.

6) February 12 2000, Premiership v Newcastle at St James' Park: Keane was again dismissed for collecting two yellow cards.

7) August 13 2000, Charity Shield v Chelsea at Wembley: Received a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Gus Poyet.

8) April 21 2001, Premiership v Manchester City at Old Trafford: Another straight red card for a disgraceful knee-high foul on Alfie Haaland.

9) September 15, 2001, Premiership v Newcastle at St James' Park: Dismissed for the second successive season at St James' Park for throwing the ball at Alan Shearer. He then made an attempt to lash out at the striker as he made his way from the field.

10) August 31, 2002, Premiership v Sunderland at Stadium of Light: Sent-off by Uriah Rennie in injury-time of the 1-1 draw after elbowing Jason McAteer following a number of heated exchanges throughout the game.

11) February 25, 2003, Champions League v FC Porto at Estadio do Dragao: With his side trailing 2-1 in the first leg of the first knockout round, the red mist descended for Keane again. With four minutes remaining the Irishman needlessly trod on Porto keeper Vitor Baia as he tried to chase down a loose ball.
