Refs deny pushing Man Utd's Ronaldo out of England
#1
Premiership refs deny claims they're pushing Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo out of England by not protecting him.

There will be "no change" and "no special case made" towards Ronaldo, despite Manchester United’s anger at what Sir Alex Ferguson describes as ‘systematic fouling’ of the Portugal playmaker, says the Daily Mail.

United fear that Ronaldo will be forced out of the club in the summer unless he is offered more protection and a greater understanding.

Phil Dowd, widely praised for his decision to send off Wayne Rooney for dissent in United’s 2-0 defeat against Fulham, was asked to take his fellow referees through a video of his performance at Craven Cottage as they gathered for a planned conference meeting.

He had been asked in advance to take the session — it was his turn — and there was no special show because of the high-profile performance on Saturday. During the session Dowd, who sent off two United players in a game for the second time in his career, is believed to have accepted there were errors in his display.

However, he has been given the full support of the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL).

What else is new? They will force Ronaldo out of England.
He is targeted because of who he is and he did go down easily when he first came to United. He is quick and light on his feet so when he is touched he goes down.
These Refs believe what they read in the papers..What about Drogba?Goes down with what it seems like a broken leg and is right back up after someone gets a yellow..He does this all the time and no comment from any of the socalled expert pundits.
The Refs in England are poor and have been for years. They hide behind their badge and the association.Look at the world cup?Who would you chose to represent England??Howard Webb???
Look at Graham Poll(the socalled best at the time)3 yellows before he sent off a Croatian player.
I fear the refs more than the opposition anytime United plays!

I totally agree with you guys. Every incident should be judged on its merit and not on the reputation of the player. This year Ronaldo has been poorly treated by referees. He doesn't get the free kicks or penalties that another player would and surely this is wrong as so many times referees think he's diving due to his reputation. I wouldn't be suprised if he left due to the fact he must get so annoyed with being pushed, kicked and man handled every week. I think he'll stay with us but all players need more protection.

However, on the flip side Ronaldo needs to watch his retailation as a few times this year he's had a good kick back like at Stoke I know he must get fustrated but he has to keep his mind on the game and beat players on the pitch which he clearly has the technical and physiceal ability to do.
