Rooney: I Love United
#1
Wayne Rooney has again reiterated his strong feelings for the club, claiming that he hopes to spend as many years with the club as Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville.

“I hope I’m still at United when I’m the same age as guys like Ryan, Scholesy and Gary Neville,” said Rooney. “I’ve always said that as long as United want me, I’m happy to stay. I don’t want to leave. I love the club and have no reason to even think about moving. I’m sure I’ll be here for a long time.”

I think that it is amongst the best news that Rooney is settled and happy at United. It can only mean we aim higher every year. With a talent like that, what dreams we can have!
It looks like marriage has done him good. Don't mention that to Jonny Evans though, after today's press conference ahead of the Wolfsburg match:

He was sat alongside the boss fielding questions from the media and he was faced with perhaps the toughest of all! Sir Alex talked about the importance of marriage in helping a footballer, in this case Wayne Rooney, settle down, so it wasn't long before a journalist confronted United's young defender with the question. "Are you getting married soon Jonny?!" to which the Irishman replied: "I'd rather not talk about it, as my girlfriend is sitting amongst you all [on work experience]!" Well dealt with Jonny - I wonder what she thought of that answer!

The boss was quick to quip, "Get him tied down, dear, rings are cheap nowadays!"

And, it seems, United love Rooney. Ryan Giggs has said that he feels that Wazza is approaching being the best in the World!!

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs says team-mate Wayne Rooney is close to becoming one of the best players in the world.

The 24-year-old has been in blistering form for the Red Devils so far this season and netted the second goal in United's 3-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend.

Rooney was recently awarded the PFA Fans' Player of the Month Award for January and is currently top of the Premier League scoring chart with 20 goals this term - five clear of nearest rivals Jermain Defoe and Didier Drogba.

Giggs believes if he continues to improve the England international will soon receive the recognition that is currently held for the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.

"He is getting nearer that group," he said. "You have seen it for England and for us on the bigger stages. That is what all the top players do.

"The best thing is that Wayne is still developing. He is 24 now but he is only going to get better.

"His appetite is strong and he is a great player to have in your team."

Few would bet against Rooney getting on the scoresheet on Saturday when United host rock-bottom Portsmouth at Old Trafford.

Welshman Giggs says the 20-goal marksman does more than just score goals and thinks he has an impact even when not playing well.

"Even if he is not playing well he still causes problems for the other team," he added. "That is a very rare quality.

"Even with players who are genuine match-winners, if they are not playing so well, normally you don't see them.

"But if Wayne is not having the best of games, which is not very often, he never gives up.

"He believes he is going to create chances. He believes he will get them and he believes he is going to score goals.

"More often than not, he does."

With support like that, from experienced pros and teammates, is it any wonder why he loves the club? Great support, as ever.
