United Sign Obertan
#1
Sir Alex Ferguson has made Bordeaux's Gabriel Obertan United's third signing of the summer, after the promising young Frenchman signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old's contract keeps him at Old Trafford until at least June 2013, and Sir Alex revealed Obertan, who can play in a variety of attacking positions, is a player whose progress he has followed for some time.

"Gabriel is a player we have tracked for a few years now, but because of his educational programme our efforts to get him here have always been delayed," the Reds boss told ManUtd.com.

"We are delighted to get him now as he is an exciting prospect. We like to get young players and develop them, and we will see that in Gabriel over the next two years."

Gabriel admits he jumped at the chance to join the Barclays Premier League champions.

“I am very happy to join Manchester United," he told us. "This is a big opportunity for me to play at such a great club. I am very excited to be here and I look forward to proving what I can do."

However, the club has confirmed that due to a slight injury which needs attention, Gabriel will not travel on the pre-season tour.

We have quite a glut of wide players at the club now?Obertan,Valencia,Tosic,Nani,Park can put in a decent shift out wide as well?I would say any thoughts of landing Ribery now are all but gone?
Our attacking options are shaping up nicely.

yes red we have good wingers but are any of them good enough to be playing with the likes of Scholsey, Rooney and Rio

I don't think we have any world class wingers now that can replace the goals that Ronaldo got us

There is always someone at Utd to step up to the mark!
When Ruud left we thought who would replace the goals he got for us?
Up stepped Ronaldo and did it?
We have a lot of good players at the club and there are a few now who should think this is their oportunity to shine.

United man you gotta relax, SAF hardly ever gets transfers wrong so I am sure that Obertan and Valencia will be good signings plus Tosic has looked pretty good when he has been on.

Remember red3636 that Fergie has stated that theses players are fairly versatile so some of the players that you've mentioned could fill in other positions i can imagine otherwise yes there is a bit of an imbalence
He's gonna be a great player

Not quite sure about this one. Trust Fergie but would have loved to see Gourcuff arrive rather than Obertan. Hope I'm proven wrong.

Don't know anything about this guy really, due to the fact that the French league is such a back burner league.

From what I have seen on Youtube, he seems to have some good touches on the ball
