What made you fall in love with Man Utd?
#1
Good day Red Devils!

I have a question for you which I'm sure you'll be able to answer.

We feel attracted to something or someone whenever we feel that there's a connection or there's something that we like about them. We appreciate that something or someone when we can look up to them.

In line with this, my question for you is what made you fall in love/feel attracted to Manchester United?

To start the discussion, I will share my views. I fell in love with Manchester United due to the good form they always show during their matches.

It's your turn to answer. Let's start a discussion!

Well, my Dad was stationed in Manchester when he did his National Service and often hopped over the wall to watch both Manchester teams. However, because he was lucky to have seen the Busby Babes, he had a big affinity to United. He passed that love on to me and I remember seeing them on TV in the early 70s (not like the wall-to-wall Sky coverage now) and fell for the Red Devils myself.

The 70s and 80s were tough times, with TWO brothers who supported liverfool. We had the occasional FA cup final to look forward to, but that was as good as it got.

History, romance and passion are part of the love affair for me.

I was watching football and I Manuntd was on, watched for a bit and fell inlove with them after they were dominating the game I was watching. I can't remember who they were playing against but I have been supporting Manchester for a couple years now. Sadly I haven't seen a live game yet though...

I first heard about them back in High School from my psychology teacher who was a ManUtd fan. Then he showed us Green Street Hooligans to teach us about crowd mentality and hooliganism. Combine that with playing FIFA and prefering ManUtd with their amazing history and you've made a fan out of me.

It had been a family love affair since my grandfather. Growing up, being influenced by my grandfather and uncle, I had no choice but to fall in love with Manchester United and I'm definitely not complaining. There has been so much joy and a bit of heartbreak along the way in supporting them but it has been a greas ride so far.

Great Manager, awesome players and a lovable kit. I love the way in which United players bond with themselves.

Man Utd has had many iconic players in the past which allowed many people to start with Man Utd as their first favorite team. Back in the 90's, there was obviously Beckham. Recently there was Ronaldo. I feel like many people become fans of a team much more due to players of that team than the team itself. Also, Man Utd has been a breeding ground for players who matured and progressed during their stint there eventually paving the way for them to become world-class players.

I am in Portugal so I've always admired Manchester United because of Alex Ferguson. I also remember Cantona, I loved him because he was a great player and he was a bit crazy, I remember his karate act, crazy!

I become more of a fan when you guys snatched Ronaldo from my Sporting, so I started following the club more closely. You also took Nani, but I think that by that time Mourinho was already in Chelsea, so I changed my colours at that time. Smile

I was brought up in the east end of Glasgow, where I became a Celtic fan whilst still in the womb.

When I was around 10 years old, my school did a trip to London. I was asked what kind of clothes I wanted to take with me and my Mum and me went shopping.

I asked for a Real Madrid top to go away with.

This had my Mum perplexed. We lived in the East end of Glasgow and Madrid tops were hard to come by, if not entirely impossible.

Well, my Mum had always had a fancy for an ex-Celt who plied his trade with United - Lou Macari.

At that point United had an away kit of all white with red and black trim. As she couldn't find the Madrid top she managed to get a friend to purchase the United away top for me.

Off I went to London and every time I wore the top I had t oexplain to everyone why I was wearing a United top. Eventually, trying to explain that my Mum fancied Lou Macari was wearing thin so I had to look into Man United.

Joe Jordan, Gordon McQueen, Martin Buchan, Arthur Albiston, Sammy McIlroy, Steve Coppell and Mickey Thomas.

What wasn't to love. From that point on, I still loved Celtic but United was the team that I got to choose.

Been a red ever since.
