Nani Set For Shock Return!

Manchester United are confident they will have Nani back for tomorrow's UEFA Champions League clash with Marseille. The Portuguese winger trained on Friday and again yesterday with the club's physios. Boss Alex Ferguson feared he would lose Nani for three games after a horror challenge by Jamie Carragher nine days ago left him with a gashed leg. But Nani can run now freely and, today, he will be tested in a more competitive environment with the rest of the players as doctors want to be sure there is no risk of stitches bursting in match action. Ferguson is desperate to have Nani fit for the return against the French champions. His 10 goals and 15 assists so far this season have made him the club's star performer.
Neil Custis, The Sun

Whether or not Nani returns on Tuesday, The Sun says Marseille's preparations have been hampered by a police investigation into striker Branda - although Didier Deschamps' side still warmed up for Old Trafford with a 2-0 win at Rennes on Friday.

Will Nani be back soon?

Manager Alex Ferguson:
"Nani has had the stitches removed and has a chance for Tuesday,"
"He's done some work on the bike, but the problem is that he hasn't trained yet."

  Djourou out for season
Posted by: Faizah - 13-03-2011, 08:45 PM - Forum: Other Football - No Replies

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has been ruled out for the rest of the season after discolating his shoulder in the 2-0 defeat at Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final.

"We have lost Djourou now for the rest of the season," manager Arsene Wenger said after the match.

The injury occurred late in the game at Old Trafford when his own team mate Bacary Sagna accidentally ran into his arm while he was on the ground and ripped it out of its socket.

Question Papers: United 'to sell Rooney'
Posted by: Faizah - 13-03-2011, 08:40 PM - Forum: Transfer Talk - Replies (1)

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is to sell Wayne Rooney in the summer, according to the News of the World.

The paper claims that Rooney and Ferguson's relationship, already rocky following the striker's contract negotiations last autumn, has reached an all-time low in recent weeks - despite the fact that the 25-year-old has finally rediscovered his scoring touch.

The paper's source claims that, "relations between Rooney and Ferguson are so strained that it is affecting other players," adding that, "Sir Alex is not pleased with the way Rooney has been playing... Rooney has been moaning about the squad again but Sir Alex has told him he should look at himself before criticising others."
