Owen Hargreaves Storms Out Of Old Trafford After Omission From Manchester United Squad
[Image: Owen-Hargreaves-penalty-celeb_891353.jpg]

Owen Hargreaves left Old Trafford in what appeared to be an irritated hurry after being omitted from the Manchester United squad for the weekend game against Stoke City, according to a report from The Sun.

The England international was apparently hoping for some time on the pitch in order to press his claims for a place in Fabio Capello's squad for this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

However, the report claims that the star left Old Trafford at 3.10pm in his grey Audi on Sunday afternoon in something of a rush.

The official reason given by United for his departure was illness.

Hargreaves was omitted from England's provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup on Tuesday, with Capello opting instead to include Manchester City's Gareth Barry, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.

  Only a Loan!!
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 10-05-2010, 01:15 PM - Forum: The Lounge - Replies (3)

I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling a little bit fed up with the chelski fans already, but I take a little comfort from the fact that Sir Alex had positive words for the supporters after yesterday's match. You could tell he had accepted the trophy was leaving OT and was as relaxed about it as can be expected. I don't think I've ever seen him sign so many autographs before a match, nor even at half time!

However, a message to the kings road rent boys (and those rent boys from Stoke, too). The Premier League trophy is only ever loaned out from Old Trafford. It's rightful home is with us, so look after it for us and keep it clean, because we want it back in the same condition we loaned to to you!

  New Contract for Evans
Posted by: Noucamp99 - 09-05-2010, 06:50 PM - Forum: Man Utd News - Replies (4)

I was surprised that no one posted this news, while I was away! Jonny Evans has signed a 4-year deal with United:

Jonny happy to commit

Fresh from signing a new contract, Jonny Evans says he would happily follow in the footsteps of United's elder statesmen and stay at Old Trafford for his whole career, but he recognises he will need to maintain a consistently high standard to do that.

The 22-year-old central defender has played a key role in United's quest for silverware over the last two seasons, regularly and ably stepping in to provide cover for first choice pairing Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. Evans is delighted to have committed himself to the club for the next four years and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

"Negotiations started a couple of months ago and went pretty smoothly and I'm glad to have finally signed," said Evans. "It's nice to have a bit of security. It means I can start planning - little things like that are good. They help you settle and put your mind at ease.

"It would be nice to stick around as long as the older guys who are signing extensions. They just keep going. The contract is there but you still have to perform for the manager. If your performance levels dropped you could be sold in January."

Evans believes he has come a long way in the last couple of seasons and feels he has thrived on the pressure of facing some of the best players in Europe.

"Playing at a club like Manchester United you are always going to be involved in big matches and it's something I relish," he added. "I have really enjoyed the last two seasons. It has been a great experience for me and I have learnt a lot."
