United announce summer tour
Red Devils travelling to USA and Canada for pre-season friendlies

Manchester United will play four games in the United States and Canada as part of a pre-season North American tour.

The Red Devils will arrive in Chicago, home of new shirt sponsor Aon Corp, on July 12 for training before taking on SPL giants Celtic on July 16 at Toronto's Rogers Centre.

The 18-time English champions play the Philadelphia Union five days later at Lincoln Financial Field and meet the Kansas City Wizards on July 25 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Manchester United will also feature in the MLS All-Star game, which sees Sir Alex Ferguson'smen take on the league's stars on July 28 in Houston.
Enthusiasm

"It's great to be going back to North America," Ferguson told the club's official website.

"I enjoyed the last two tours there in 2003 and 2004 immensely.

"The quality of the facilities is outstanding and there is a real enthusiasm in the crowds.

"It's especially pleasing to be going in a World Cup year, when the interest in football will be at its height."

Left England 6 years ago for the greener pastures of Spain, and not planning to move back home any time soon.

Rooney is the first Englishman to be named United's Player of the Year since Teddy Sheringham in 2001. Should he retain it in 2011, he'll become only the second man to win it three times, emulating Cristiano Ronaldo (2004, 2007 and 2008).

Wayne's club accolade completes a personal Player of the Year hat-trick for this season, after his peers in the PFA and the nation's top football journalists in the FWA also made him their top man for 2009/10.

He won a hat-trick of club awards on Tuesday night, also collecting the Players' Player of the Year accolade from Sir Alex Ferguson and the Goal of the Season trophy for his strike on the counter-attack against Arsenal on 31 January.

Wayne admitted he was "a bit surprised I got Goal of the Season. I think Michael Owen's winner against Manchester City should have won it.
