  The Transfer Fund and Rooney
Posted by: Hyltz'. - 08-11-2010, 06:23 PM - Forum: The Lounge - Replies (4)

: The Transfer Fund :

United will face serious problems come next years' January/Summer transfer windows.

There are many [top] players ....
(VDS, Nev, Scholes, Giggs, and perhaps even Hargreaves, possibly Rio and yes, even Berbatov) .... that will need to be replaced to enable United to rebuild the team to the level and prominence necessary to maintain revenue.

Do Manchester United really have the £150million( +/_ ) in the bank, that SAF & David Gill have so widely quoted to the media, (on more than one occasion) and if so, is it available to the transfer fund ?

: Rooney :

Now 'the Glazers' have signed him to a long term contract and he is worth far more to them than only a few short weeks ago ?

Could it be, he is more likely to be seen now as a bankable asset to be placed against the costs of future First Team development, than as a gifted Manchester United talent ?

(After all, the team is doing as well - or arguably better - without him, in a season that he has yet to find and prove his form.

Man Utd v Wolves 6/11/2010

Man Utd didn't lose a game at home this season and should have the spirit to beat Wolves on Saturday.

  Nani and Fletcher Injured
Posted by: Hyltz'. - 03-11-2010, 03:48 PM - Forum: Man Utd News - No Replies

Last nights 3 - 0 win over Turkish Champion Bursaspor, has left United with yet two more injuries to add to it's ever lengthening list of absentees.
The win has come at some cost to an already depleted First Team 11 that will now probably be unable to call upon last nights goal scorer Fletcher, (ankle) and Nani, (groin) for Saturdays match against a Wolves team still high on last weeks 2 - 1 win over our 'Noisy Neighbours'.

This is more bad news for United who, having already thrown away points to Fulham, Everton, Bolton, Sunderland and West Brom, just can't afford to drop any more with the runaway league leaders Chelsea already 5 points ahead.

In a post match interview a matter-of-fact Sir Alex Ferguson said, (of the latest injuries) " These things happen in football.", adding a little later " We may have Darron Gibson back after a bout of flu but Anderson has had a virus as well and I don't think he will be ready."

According to Physioroom.com, United have 7 'First Team' players, unavailable to them at present, (not including Owen Hargreaves).

  • Anderson ..... Ankle/Foot Injury ..... No Return Date
  • Fletcher ....... Ankle/Foot Injury ...... No Return Date
  • Nani ........….. Groin Strain .........…. No Return Date
  • M Owen ......… Hamstring Injury ...... No Return Date
  • Rooney …....... Ankle/Foot Injury …... No Return Date
  • Giggs ........…. Hamstring Injury …..... 6th. Nov 2010
