  Torres for Chelsea
Posted by: rooneyisared - 31-01-2011, 05:30 PM - Forum: Other Football - No Replies

Quote:Kenny Dalglish refused to explain whether striker Fernando Torres would leave the club before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

The Reds rejected a £35m bid from Chelsea after a transfer request by the Spaniard was turned down on Friday.

"We've not brought anyone as a replacement for anyone else," Reds boss Dalglish revealed on Monday.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport understands that Liverpool have had a £30m bid rejected for Newcastle striker Andy Carroll.

The future of Torres remained uncertain with the transfer deadline ending at 2300 GMT on Monday, with BBC sports news correspondent Dan Roan reporting over the weekend that Liverpool would be willing to offload the 26-year-old for £50m to Chelsea.

An Anfield source also stated that the club could be open to a deal of £40m in cash plus Blues forward Nicolas Anelka.

My friend who supports Liverpool actually thinks this is a good deal, I say selling your best player and bringing in a experienced replacement for an vastly over-inflated price is crazy.

  Liverpool want Carrol for £35MILLION!!

Quote:Newcastle striker Andy Carroll is keen on a proposed move to Liverpool, BBC Sport understands.

Liverpool have made a second bid for the 22-year-old after their initial £30m offer was rejected by the Magpies.

Carroll has scored 11 goals in 19 league games this season and made his full England debut in November's 2-1 defeat by France at Wembley.

Liverpool have agreed a £23m fee for Ajax striker Luis Suarez but could be set to sell Fernando Torres to Chelsea.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was due to hold his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's Premier League trip to Fulham at the club's training headquarters at 1400 GMT.

However, it was initially put back to 1530 GMT at St James' Park before being cancelled.

Academy graduate Carroll played a key role in the Magpies' promotion from the Championship last season and has continued to shine since being handed the number nine shirt during the summer.

I think he is a good player but £35million+ that is a massive waste of money!!!
