  VIDIC STAYING!
Posted by: Bennthered - 18-02-2010, 01:53 PM - Forum: The Lounge - Replies (7)

FOUND THIS ON THE SUN WEBSITE!! (I REALLY SHOULD BE WORKING)

NEMANJA VIDIC insists he will not be leaving Manchester United this summer.
The Serbian defender has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan.

He has not played for United in 2010 and his absence has sparked speculation about his future at the club.

Vidic, 28, said: "I will repeat for the hundredth time, my contract with Manchester United is until the summer of 2012 and I want to stay at Old Trafford until the last day.

"Only this is true."

Some reports claim centre-back Vidic has already agreed a deal to leave United.

But he added: "No, no, no, I have made a career in Manchester and I respect that fully.

"No one has contacted me and I have not spoken to anyone."

Vidic has spent over a month on the sidelines although he admits he will return to action soon.

He said: "I am healthy... I feel strong and I believe I can return in full.

"First I had troubles with a calf muscle but I started with training too early and felt strong pain in the back of a calf."

Premier League punishes Wolves over under-strength team
Posted by: kasaki - 18-02-2010, 12:28 PM - Forum: Premier League - Replies (1)

Wolves have been handed a suspended £25,000 fine after the Premier League decided the team fielded against Manchester United earlier this season was in breach of rules.

Segundo Castillo and George Friend were handed rare starts
Wolves changed all ten outfield players in the 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford on December 15 and Arsene Wenger was among those to criticise Mick McCarthy over the decision.
Wolves made detailed representation to the Premier League at a hearing and cited the top-flight experience of the match-day squad, but it was deemed the club had breached Rules E.20 and B.13 by failing to field a full-strength team.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the club's official website: "We are obviously disappointed but we respect the Premier League's ruling, especially as they have now used our case as a clear warning to all other clubs, some of whom have made similar changes to their teams in Premier League matches in the past, that this is not acceptable in the future.

"We made a detailed representation to the Premier League and pointed to those precedents involving other clubs in previous seasons. This ruling may now lead to a wider discussion regarding the issue of squad rotation and the Premier League's rules. We look forward to fully participating in any such debate at future Premier League meetings.

"One thing that has never been in question is the integrity of our first-team manager, Mick McCarthy. He picked a team that, in his view, was in the best possible position to get a result in that particular game.

"He made it unselfishly and with the best interests of Wolves in mind. Today's announcement means we can draw a line under the issue and concentrate fully on the remaining Premier League games."

McCarthy added: "I accept the Premier League's decision. It was never my intention to break any of the Premier League's rules, only to pick a team that was in the best position to get a result. I'm pleased the matter is now closed."

Rule E.20 states that clubs must field full-strength sides in every match, while B.13 states that each club must act in good faith towards one another.

This doesnt directly relate to us , but I thought this fine was just stupid for both wolves and kinda is a diss to us

  Papers: Joe Cole to OT?
Posted by: Vazza - 18-02-2010, 12:18 PM - Forum: Transfer Talk - Replies (14)

United ready to snap up Cole

Manchester United are ready to make a summer move for England midfielder Joe Cole if he cannot resolve his contract dispute at Chelsea.

Talks on a new deal for Cole have dragged on for weeks and are no nearer being concluded. Cole, 28, will be out of contract in the summer and clubs are now beginning to be alerted that his future is becoming increasingly uncertain.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been an admirer of Cole for some time and the prospect of picking up such an experienced and talented player on the cheap would be an attractive one.

United boss Ferguson is looking for reinforcements on the left for Ryan Giggs and Cole, who could be available as a free agent, would be a bargain.
