Pre-season Transfer Speculation & Rumours(2010)
WOW, so many transfer speculations. There's no way we will get people over 20million, its just not SAF's way. Maybe a attacking midfielder who can support or play alongside Rooney.

Cleverley to ink United deal
Fergie to reward young starlet

Quote:Skysports.com understands Tom Cleverley is poised to sign a new deal at Manchester United.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to reward the talented midfielder with a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.

The England Under 21 international is highly regarded within the corridors of Old Trafford and is seen as a key player in Ferguson's future plans.

Cleverley enjoyed a successful loan spell at Watford last season, scoring 11 goals in 33 appearances and in the process scooping the club's player of the year prize.

The 20-year-old is happy at United and is expected to sign a new three-year extension at the club.

A number of Premier League clubs are thought to be keen on signing Cleverley on loan next season and it remains to be seen if Ferguson will continue to allow his best young players go out on loan in a bid to get regular first-team action under their belts.

James pens Lilywhites deal
Former United youngster signs one-year contract

Quote:Preston have signed Matthew James from Manchester United on a year-long loan deal.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a fruitful loan stint with North End towards the end of last season, prompting boss Darren Ferguson to offer him a new deal.

A product of the Red Devils' youth academy, he will be key to the club's midfield arrangement in the coming season.

James is Preston's second summer signing following the capture of Scunthorpe striker Paul Hayes who arrived on a free transfer last month.

The Lilywhites are expected to continue their search for additional summer recruits as they look to better last season's disappointing 17th-place finish.

Suarez eyes United move
Uruguay star waiting on call from Red Devils

Quote:Uruguay World Cup star Luis Suarez admits he could be tempted to leave Ajax if Manchester United come calling.

The 23-year-old striker, who was sent off during Uruguay's quarter-final encounter against Ghana due to his controversial handball, scored a massive 49 goals in 48 games for the Dutch club last season.

But despite being happy at Ajax, Suarezsays an offer from a high-profile club such as United could sway him towards a move.

"Manchester United and Barcelona are the elite clubs in Europe," Suarez told the Daily Star Sunday.

"If they call, you listen. I would only leave Ajax for a team in that category."

Suarez is eligible to play in the World Cup final should Uruguay win their last-four match after being handed a one-match ban by Fifa on Saturday.

Hernandez in loan link
Striker's father not ruling out loan switch

Quote:Javier Hernandez's father has admitted he cannot rule out the possibility of the Manchester United striker going out on loan this season, with Valencia understood to be interested.

The Red Devils agreed a deal to sign the Mexico international back in April, which looks an increasingly astute piece of business after he shone at the World Cup.
Hernandez has been granted a work permit and is set to link up with his new team-mates at Old Trafford later this month, but speculation has now surfaced that he could be sent out on loan.

It is not clear how regularly Hernandez would play for United this term considering the other attacking resources at Sir Alex Ferguson'sdisposal, especially as he has never played in Europe before and is still not the finished article at the age of 22.

Valencia are known to be on the lookout for new forwards after being forced to sell some of their prized assets, including David Villa, David Silva and Nikola Zigic.
Reports suggest they are keen to sort out a loan deal for Hernandez and his father, also named Javier, does not believe it is an idea that can be dismissed lightly.

"This could be a positive solution for the adaptation of Javier into European football," the youngster's father told Televisa.

"Contacts exist but Manchester have still not decided anything about the subject.

"Javier's first season in England will not be easy. Perhaps the loan option is not madness."

Gross reveals Khedira fear
Midfielder wanted by Chelsea and Man Utd, according to reports

Quote:Stuttgart manager Christian Gross is fearful of losing Germany star Sami Khedira to potential suitors.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be in the hunt for the playmaker after releasing Joe Cole, Michael Ballack and Deco in the close season.

Khedira has enjoyed an impressive World Cup finals and his performances have also courted the interest of Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be eyeing the player as a replacement for 35-year-old Paul Scholes in the Old Trafford midfield engine room.

Stuttgart could lose their man on a free next year when his contract expires and the German outfit are believed to be willing to deal at £12million for Khedira's services.

Gross says the prospect of his lynchpin helping Joachim Low's team to glory in South Africacould see the big clubs swoop to land his services.

The former Tottenham chief told The Sun: "It would be very painful if Sami left on a free. If he has two more great World Cup games, all the big clubs will come for him."

Moratti - United want Sneijder
But Dutch star ready to commit to Inter until 2015

Quote:Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed that Manchester United are interested in midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

The 26-year-old Holland international has been linked with a move to the Premier League side following an impressive World Cup.

Sneijder, whose Inter contract expires in 2013, has fired the Dutch to the final in South Africaand will be hoping the Oranje can go all the way for the first time in their history.

He also had a great domestic campaign with the Nerazzurri last term, as under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho Inter won a remarkable treble, which included the UEFA Champions League title.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is now in charge at the San Siro following Mourinho's departure to Real Madrid, and the Spaniard will not want to lose one of his prize assets.

But Moratti has confirmed the Red Devils are hot on his trail, even if Inter do not want to sell.

"The interest from Manchester United in Sneijder is real, but I didn't look into it in an attempt not to fall into temptation," Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.

"I'm following him at the World Cup and I think I'll do the same also at Inter for the next years."

However, Sneijder, formerly of Ajax and Real Madrid, is ready to commit his future to the club until 2015, according to his agent Soren Lerby.

Lerby told De Telegraaf: "Wesley could stay at Inter until 2015. After the World Cup, we will go to Milan, we will sit around a table with the officials."

United linked with Balotelli
Old Trafford outfit ready to rival City for Inter striker

Quote:Manchester United have joined Manchester City in the race to sign Inter Milan forward Mario Balotelli, according to the Serie A giants.

The talented but temperamental teenager has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with City reported to have had an initial offer rejected.

Inter president Massimo Moratti insisted earlier this week that Balotelli would remain at Giuseppe Meazza under new manager Rafa Benitez.
Technical director Marco Branca backed the stance of the Nerazzurri supremo, but revealed that the interest from former Inter boss Roberto Mancini was being matched from across Manchester.

Business

Branca is quoted in The Sun as saying: "We are fortunate to have good players so it's normal big teams in Europe are thinking about them.

"There is interest from Manchester United and from Manchester City in Balotelli.

"But it is very early to say if there will be any business done.

"Inter are in first position and we have to think about our future."
